  1. 16. Low rectal cancer : aspects of surgical techniques and treatment results

    Författare :Claes Anderin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rectal cancer is the 7th most common form of cancer in Sweden, both for men and women. About one third of all patients diagnosed with rectal cancer have a low tumour (i.e. 0-5 cm from the anal verge). LÄS MER

  2. 17. Persistent geotropic nystagmus : a different kind of cupula pathology

    Författare :Tatjana Tomanovic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with positional vertigo a persistent positional direction-changing nystagmus (PDCN) of apogeotropic direction (a-PDCN) in the supine yaw plane has been described earlier 1-5. It has been suggested that the cupula in the lateral semicircular canal has a higher specific weight than the surrounding endolymph making the cupula sensitive to gravity. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Wireless esophageal PH monitoring. Clinical evaluation of a new technique

    Författare :Jörgen Wenner; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; thresholds; specificity; sensitivity; diagnostic accuracy; adverse symptoms; wireless; pH monitoring; gastroesophageal reflux disease; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Esophageal pH monitoring is important in the clinical management of patients with symptoms suggestive of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and in research aiming to clarify the mechanisms involved in the development of GERD complications. Catheter-based techniques for pH recording are uncomfortable, not well tolerated by all patients and cannot reliably measure acid exposure in the most distal esophagus the region most prone to reflux-induced complications. 4. 19. Advanced technology in the evaluation of chronic neck impairment

    Författare :Martin Ålund; Gunnar Németh; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : An electrogoniometrical method was modified for clinical motion analysis of the head and neck. Simultaneous measurements of neck motion range and motion pattern in the three planes could be obtained, and a graphical illustration of the movements was possible. The equipment showed high reliability and validity. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Finite Element and Neuroimaging Techniques toImprove Decision-Making in Clinical Neuroscience

    Författare :Xiaogai Li; Svein Kleiven; Hans von Holst; Bernhard A Schrefler; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Traumatic brain injury; Intracranial Pressure; Brain edema; Gravitational force; Finite Element Model; Poroelastic parameter; Decompressive craniotomy; Image registration; Water content; Strain level; Diffusion Weighted Imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Our brain, perhaps the most sophisticated and mysterious part of the human body, to some extent, determines who we are. However, it’s a vulnerable organ. When subjected to an impact, such as a traffic accident or sport, it may lead to traumatic brain injury (TBI) which can have devastating effects for those who suffer the injury. LÄS MER
