  1. 6. Signal transduction pathways involved in PDGF receptor-induced cellular responses

    Författare :Roya Hooshmand-Rad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), is a potent connective tissue cell mitogen and chemoattractant which binds to two structurally related receptors denoted PDGF α- and β- receptors. Upon binding of PDGF to the receptor, signaling molecules containing Src Homology 2 (SH2) domains are recruited to the activated receptor and mediate propagation of the signal. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Plant pathogen defense: Signalling, resistance and cell death

    Författare :Oskar N. Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pseudomonas; cell death; pathogens; plant defense; hypersensitive response; glycolipid; reactive oxygen species; blumeria graminis; erysiphe pisi;

    Sammanfattning : Pathogenic microorganisms are present everywhere in nature and infect both animals and plants. Phytopathogenic microorganisms cause diseases on plants, and are responsible for crop loss amounting in the order billions of dollars annually. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Significance of hydrolytic enzymes expressed during xylem cell death

    Författare :Benjamin Bollhöner; Hannele Tuominen; Moritz Nowack; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis; Populus; xylem cell death; metacaspase; fiber; lateral root emergence; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; Physiological Botany; fysiologisk botanik; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Xylem is an inherent feature of all vascular plants and functions in water transport and mechanical support. In order to efficiently transport water, xylem cells are reinforced by secondary walls before they undergo programmed cell death and their cell contents are removed by autolysis to create a hollow tube. 4. 9. Smoking and T cell co-stimulation in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Caroline Wasén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatoid arthritis; CD8 T cell; programmed cell death-1; programmed cell death-1 ligand 1; smoking; microRNA;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I investigated if smoking limits the co-stimulatory system of CD8+ T cells in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). I took special interest in the co-inhibitory receptor PD-1 and its ligand PD-L1. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Novel Interactors of X-linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein : Expression and Effects on Tumor Cell Death

    Författare :Håkan Steen; Dan Lindholm; Bertrand Joseph; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Neurobiology; XIAP; tumor cell death; apoptosis; caspases; basic helix-loop-helix protein; Neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Programmed cell death, or apoptosis, has during the last decade received a lot of attention due to its involvement in a large number of pathological conditions. Since death is always irreversible, it is important for cells to fully control the initiation and execution of this process. LÄS MER
