  1. 16. HAMLET - In vivo effects and mechanisms of tumor-cell death

    Författare :Lotta Gustafsson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; proteasome stress; HAMLET; human milk; tumor-cell death; clinical trial; rat xenograft model; skin papilloma; glioblastoma;

    Sammanfattning : HAMLET (human alpha-lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells), a molecular complex derived from human milk, is an interesting new tool in cancer research since it induces programmed cell death in tumor cells while leaving normal, differentiated cells unharmed. The in vivo effects of HAMLET were studied in a rat xenograft model of human glioblastoma. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Biotic and abiotic stress in microorganisms and plants: Some Mechanisms of Stress and Programmed Cell Death. Genetic Engineering Approaches Towards Improved Stress Tolerance

    Författare :Per-Johan Meijer; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biotic stress; plants; microorganisms; stress tolerance; antifreeze protein; proline; programmed cell death; systemic aquired resistance; Biochemistry; metabolism; Biokemi; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; abiotic stress;

    Sammanfattning : Various forms of stress, such as biotic and abiotic stress, were studied in microorganisms and plants to learn more about the underlying mechanisms of such stress and potential genetic engineering strategies towards stress tolerance. An antifreeze protein from winter flounder, expressed in E. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Who is killing whom? Hantaviruses vs programmed cell death

    Författare :Shawon Gupta; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Hantaviruses belong to the Bunyaviridae family of negative stranded RNA viruses. They carry a tri-segmented genome and consist of four structural proteins. The four structural proteins are two glycoproteins Gn and Gc, a nucleocapsid (N) protein and an RNA-dependent RNA-polymerase. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Modulation of retinal progenitors : A bird’s-eye view of retinal regeneration and disease

    Författare :Dardan Konjusha; Finn Hallböök; Rusty Lansford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental neurobiology; Retinoblastoma; MYCN; Cone photoreceptor; Nolz1; Endothelin; Müller cells;

    Sammanfattning : The cell populations of the retina and their intricate organization provide us with one of the most important senses – vision. All retinal cell populations are derived from a common progenitor pool as a result of tight regulation of proliferation, differentiation, dedifferentiation, and programmed cell death. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Nuclear mechanisms in cell death induced by HAMLET (human alpha-lactalbumin made lethal to tumour cells)

    Författare :Caroline Düringer; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mikrobiologi; virology; mykologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mycology; bacteriology; Microbiology; chromatin; histones; apoptosis; alpha-lactalbumin; programmed cell death;

    Sammanfattning : HAMLET (human alpha-lactalbumin made lethal to tumour cells), a protein-lipid complex originally isolated from human milk, induces programmed cell death selectively in tumour cells. It consists of partially unfolded alpha-lactalbumin in complex with oleic acid. LÄS MER
