  1. 1. Improved remaining useful life estimations for on-condition parts in aircraft engines

    Författare :Veronica Fornlöf; Anna Syberfeldt; Anders Skoogh; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aircraft engine maintenance; Reliability; Remaining useful life; On-condition parts; Prognosis; Technology; Teknik; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on obtaining better estimates of remaining life for on-condition (OC) parts in aircraft engines. Aircraft engine components are commonly classified into three categories, life-limited parts (LLP), OC-parts and consumables. Engine maintenance typi-cally accounts for 10% to 20% of aircraft-related operating cost. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Towards more prognostic information to patients with life threatening diseases: Why, how and when?

    Författare :Lena Hoff; Medicinsk etik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prognostic information; acute leukemia; myeloma and inoperable lung cancer; ethics; values;

    Sammanfattning : Physicians’ attitudes towards disclosure to patients of cancer diagnoses have changed from non-disclosure to full disclosure. Also disclosure of prognosis are likewise said to have changed, though not to the same degree. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Androgen controlled regulatory systems in prostate cancer : potential new therapeutic targets and prognostic markers

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer is by far the most common cancer among Swedish men. Some patients have an aggressive lethal disease, but the majority of affected men have long expected survival. Unfortunately, the diagnostic tools available are insufficient in predicting disease aggressiveness. Novel prognostic markers are therefore urgently needed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Prognostic markers in prostate cancer : studies of a watchful waiting cohort with long follow up

    Författare :Andreas Josefsson; Anders Bergh; Pernilla Wikström; Pär Stattin; Anders Bjartell; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Background: Prostate Cancer (PC) is a common and highly variable disease. Using current diagnostic methods, the prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test and histological grading of prostate tissue needle biopsies, it is often difficult to evaluate whether the patient has a PC that requires active treatment or not. 5. 5. Colorectal Liver Metastases : Onco-surgical Strategies & Prognostic Factors

    Författare :Petter Frühling; Bengt Isaksson; Ville Sallinen; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The management of patients with colorectal cancer with liver metastases has improved over the past decades. There have been significant developments in terms of surgery, local therapies, anesthesia and oncological treatment. Nevertheless, there is no consensus on what constitutes optimal treatment strategy. LÄS MER
