  1. 1. The Karma of Products : Exploring the Causality of Environmental Pressure with Causal Loop Diagram and Environmental Footprint

    Författare :Rafael Laurenti; Björn Frostell; Andrius Plepys; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Products; Environmental Pressure; Causal Loop Diagram; Environmental Footprint; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental pressures from consumer products and mechanisms of predetermination were examined in this thesis using causal loop diagram (CLD) and life cycle assessment (LCA) footprinting to respectively illustrate and provide some indicators about these mechanisms. Theoretical arguments and their practical implications were subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis, using secondary and primary data. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mechanical processing for improved products made from Swedish hardwood

    Författare :Jimmy Johansson; Dick Sandberg; František Hapla; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; capillarity; capillary transport; wood products; customer requirements; ecoeffectiveness; ; sawing pattern; star-sawing; the PrimWood Method; timber products; volume yield; water transport; Wood fibre and forest products; Träfiber- och virkeslära;

    Sammanfattning : Swedish hardwood is today used in the energy, pulp and mechanical hardwood industries. Only very small volumes of Swedish hardwood are, however, consumed by the mechanical industry that normally pays the highest timber price. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chemicals in consumer products : Bridging the gap between academic research and chemicals regulation

    Författare :Linda Molander; Christina Rudén; Magnus Breitholtz; Laura N. Vandenberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; consumer products; articles; chemicals; chemicals regulation; REACH; risk management; health risk assessment; non-standard toxicity studies; study evaluation; reporting guidance; endocrine disrupting compounds; bisphenol A; low dose effects; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Exposure to chemicals emitting from consumer products, such as clothes, electronic devices, toys and kitchen-ware, has emerged as an issue of public health and environmental concern. The use of chemicals having endocrine disrupting properties in commercial products is receiving particular attention as low dose exposures of such chemicals have been associated with adverse effects in both human and wildlife populations. 4. 4. Chemicals in consumer products : Towards a safe and sustainable use

    Författare :Linda Molander; Christina Rudén; Sven Ove Hansson; Mattias Öberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :consumer products; articles; hazardous chemicals; risk management; chemicals regulation; REACH; substitution; regulatory toxicology; European Union;

    Sammanfattning : Health and environmental risks associated with emissions of hazardous chemicals from articles, including everyday consumer products such as clothes and toys, have become widely acknowledged internationally, particularly in the EU. This thesis contributes to new understandings of how these risks are currently managed within the EU and recommends actions for ensuring a safe and sustainable use of chemicals in articles. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Laminated Veneer Products : Shape Stability and Effect of Enhanced Formability on Bond-Line Strength

    Författare :Lars Blomqvist; Jimmy Johansson; Hans Petersson; Dick Sandberg; Peter Niemz; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns two aspects of the manufacture of laminated veneer products (LVPs). The first aspect is related to the possible improvement of the shape stability of LVPs, and the second has its starting point in the modification of the veneer for enhanced formability as well as the question of whether and how these modifications affect the bond-line strength.
