11. Evaluation of Pretreatment and Process Configurations for Combined Ethanol and Biogas Production from Lignocellulosic Biomass
Sammanfattning : In view of global climate change and the increasing energy demand there is a need for renewable energy resources. This thesis discusses an energy-driven biorefinery concept based on the agricultural residues corn stover and wheat straw. The work is divided into two main parts. LÄS MER
12. The HiPIMS Process
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis involves experimental and theoretical studies related to a thin film deposition technique called high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS), and more specifically the plasma properties and how they influence the coating. HiPIMS is an ionized physical vapor deposition technique based on conventional direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS). LÄS MER
13. The quality of red blood cells and platelets intended for transfusion : Opportunities for improvements
Sammanfattning : A new, automated technique for collection and instant preparation of blood components has been developed. The device enables the combined collection of red cells (250 mL) and plasma (475 mL). No adverse effects were seen in the donors. The blood components were of good quality. LÄS MER
14. Risks in the chemotherapy process and possibilities for improvement
Sammanfattning : Medications are of considerable help if healthcare providers are able to administer them to patients safely and appropriately. The medication use process is complex and a team of professionals – doctors, nurses, and pharmacists – work together with the patient for optimal treatment effect. LÄS MER
15. Safety Reviews of Technical System Modifications in the Nuclear Industry
Sammanfattning : The function of safety reviews (here understood as expert judgements on proposals for design modifications and redesign of technical systems in commercial Nuclear Power Plants, supported by formalised safety review processes) plays a fundamental role for safety in nuclear installations. The primary aims of the presented case studies includes: critically examining and identifying the main areas for improvement of the existing technical safety review process as it is conducted at a Swedish nuclear power plant, developing a new process, and evaluating whether any improvements were accomplished.
