11. Understanding cellular and cytoskeletal dysregulation in immunodeficiency diseases
Sammanfattning : The immune system is a complex network of cells and molecules interacting to preserve the integrity and survival of the host by distinguishing self from non-self, and dysregulation of immune cells can lead to immunodeficiency, autoimmunity, and cancer. The cytoskeleton is essential for several important immune cell functions, including proliferation, movement, signaling, and vesicle trafficking. LÄS MER
12. Understanding chronic immunodeficiency disorders through assessment of cytotoxic lymphocyte function
Sammanfattning : Representing an evolving and diverse group of syndromes, immunodeficiencies can currently be viewed as a spectrum of disorders where a dysfunction of the immune system plays a significant etiologic role. Cytotoxic lymphocytes are immune cells that are pivotal for the eradication of infected and malignant cells. LÄS MER
13. Functional assays for the diagnosis of primary defects in lymphocyte cytotoxicity
Sammanfattning : Cytotoxic lymphocytes encompass natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). These cells detect and kill virus-infected as well as malignant cells. Primary defects in lymphocyte cytotoxicity are associated with development of a hyperinflammatory syndrome termed hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). LÄS MER
14. Oral mucositis and periodontal disease in patients with primary or acquired immunodeficiencies
Sammanfattning : The infection and inflammation in the oral cavity are commonly related to the skewed interaction between host immunity and inhabiting microorganisms. Both primary and acquired immunodeficiency conditions are frequently associated with oral symptoms. LÄS MER
15. HIV/AIDS in Sweden and the United Kingdom : policy networks 1982-1992
Sammanfattning : The focus of this study is on the development and influence of HIV/AIDS policy networks in Sweden and United Kingdom during the period 1982-92, from the period when the lethal disease which was later named AIDS first appeared in the two countries, to the time when HIV/AIDS policy was integrated into the main policy field of infectious diseases. The networks are defined as structural arrangements between organisations and individuals, who are in frequent contact with one another in order to prevent HIV infection, to reduce the personal and social impact of HIV infection, and to care for those already infected.
