  1. 11. Model-Based Control of Gasoline Partially Premixed Combustion

    Författare :Gabriel Ingesson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pressure-Sensor Feedback; Model Predictive Control; Model-Based Controller Design; Partially Premixed Combustion;

    Sammanfattning : Partially Premixed Combustion (PPC) is an internal combustion engine concept that aims to yield low NOx and soot emission levels together with high engine efficiency. PPC belongs to the class of low temperature combustion concepts where the ignition delay is prolonged in order to promote the air-fuel-mixture homogeneity in the combustion chamber at the start of combustion. 2. 12. On Premixed Gas Fuelled Stirling Engine Combustors with Combustion Gas Recirculation

    Författare :Magnus Pålsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; hydraulik; Mechanical engineering; hydraulics; vacuum technology; termodynamik; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; heat pipe; ejector; solar energy; CGR; recirculation; EGR; catalytic combustion; premix combustion; Stirling engine; combustor;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective in the research described in this thesis was to design and test the use of lean premixed combustion using combustion gas recirculation for gas fuelled Stirling engine combustors. A system using a flame-arrester type of flame-holder to stabilize the flame and an ejector system for the recirculation of combustion gas was designed and tested in the laboratory. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Characterization of the Combustion of Light Alcohols in CI Engines : Performance, Combustion Characteristics and Emissions

    Författare :Sam Shamun; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Methanol; Ethanol; Oxygenated Fuel Blends; Compression Ignition Engine; Partially Premixed Combustion; Combustion Characteristics; Efficiency; Emissions; Particulate Matter; Metanol; Etanl; Oxygenerade Bränsleblandningar; Kompressionsantänd Motor; Partiellt Förblandad Förbränning; Förbränningsegenskaper; Verkningsgrad; Emissioner; Partiklar;

    Sammanfattning : Alternative fuels for combustion engines are becoming increasingly popular as society is pushing to phase out fossil energy to reduce CO2 emissions. The compression ignition (CI) engine has a high overall efficiency which makes it a valuable option for the transport fleet, despite the well known NOx and soot pollutants it emits. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On the Modeling of Premixed Combustion under Varying Equivalence Ratios

    Författare :Karl-Johan Nogenmyr; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Level set G-equation; Combustion modeling; LES; Stratified Premixed Flame;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with numerical simulation of reactive flows. The numerical method is three dimensional and unsteady, which allows for spatial and temporal resolution of most of the scales of the fluid motion and the reaction process. In the turbulent cases studied, scales down to Taylor scales are resolved. LÄS MER

  5. 15. System Simulation of Partially Premixed Combustion in Heavy-Duty Engines : Gas Exchange, Fuels and In-cylinder Analysis

    Författare :Erik Svensson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Partially Premixed Combustion PPC ; Compression ignition; Direct injection; Methanol; Engine optimization; Stochastic reactor model; T-phi diagrams; Partially premixed combustion; Compression Ignition; Direct Injection; Methanol; Engine Optimization; Stochastic reactor model; Gas exchange; T-phi diagrams;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of partially premixed combustion (PPC), applied to conventional diesel engines, has shown to yield high gross efficiencies and low emissions of oxides of nitrogen and soot. PPC emerged from the knowledge gained from homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) research. LÄS MER
