  1. 1. Ophthalmological follow-up in young adults born premature and screened for retinopathy of prematurity

    Författare :Dýrleif Pétursdóttir; Eva Larsson; Gerd Holmström; Marita Andersson Grönlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long-term follow-up; prematurity; refraction; retinopathy of prematurity; strabismus; visual function; visual-motor integration; young adults; Ophtalmology; Oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Prematurely born children have a higher risk of ophthalmological and neurodevelopmental disorders than those born at term. There is a paucity of long-term prospective follow-up studies on the visual function of prematurely born adults. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Retinal morphology and function in prematurely-born children at school age

    Författare :Hanna Åkerblom; Gerd Holmström; Anne Fulton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Retinopathy of prematurity; Prematurity; Retinal development; OCT; Fullfield ERG; Multifocal ERG; Ophtalmology; Oftalmiatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Preterm birth may lead to complications during the neonatal period that can cause visual dysfunctions. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and neurological complications are well known reasons for visual dysfunctions, but preterm children with no or only mild ROP and no evident neurological problems may also be affected visually when they grow up. 3. 3. Short- and Long-Term Follow-Up of Ophthalmological Findings in Preterm Infants and Children

    Författare :Eva Larsson; Gerd Holmström; Kristina Tornqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ophtalmology; prematurity; follow-up; retinopathy of prematurity; ROP; infants; children; incidence; screening; refraction; visual acuity; visual fields; Oftalmiatrik; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Sammanfattning : In a prospective population-based study in Stockholm County, 1998-2000, the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) was investigated and was found to be 36% in prematurely-born infants with a birth weight of ≤ 1500 grams. Compared to a study performed ten years ago, the overall incidence was unchanged, but was reduced in “mature” infants and increased in immature ones. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Ophthalmological aspects of prematurity

    Författare :Gerd Holmström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Prematmity - retinopathy of prematmity - incidence - cryotherapy refractive enors - visual impairment - strabismus - cerebral lesions - matemalrisk factorsneonatallisk factors;

    Sammanfattning : In a prospective, population-based study of a weIl defined geographical area in Sweden, an ROP incidence of 40.4% was found among 260 prematurely born infants with a birth weight of 1500 grams or less. Cryotherapy was performed in 10.8% of the infants. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sensorimotor behavior in children born preterm and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy : Side preference, movement organization, and training

    Författare :Anna-Maria Johansson; Louise Rönnqvist; Erik Domellöf; Janette Atkinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; prematurity; preterm; children; cerebral palsy; movement organization; movement performance; goal-directed; laterality; handedness; intelligence; cognition; synchronized metronome training; intervention; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Preterm birth (< 37 complete gestation weeks, GWs) is the single most prominent risk factor for the development of cerebral palsy (CP). This is due to the immature physiological state of the preterm born infant which increases the risk of brain lesions. LÄS MER
