  1. 1. Proteomic Analysis of Urinary Bladder Cancer : Aiming for Novel Biomarkers

    Författare :Mårten Lindén; Per-Uno Malmström; Ulrika Segersten; Sara Bergström Lind; Lars Egevad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :urine; APOE; FGB; GAL1; LRG1; POLR1E; SERPINA1; STMN1; TOP2A; biomarker; diagnostic biomarker; prognostic biomarker; predictive biomarker; mass spectrometry; western blot; dot blot; immunohistochemistry; IHC; tissue microarray; TMA; urothelium; antibody; antibody-based; urinblåsecancer; biomarkör; diagnos; prognos; urin; proteomik; masspektrometri; immunohistokemi; antikroppar; Molecular Biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary bladder cancer is a heterogeneous disease appearing in different forms, e.g. non-muscle invasive and muscle invasive. For all variants, the expression of proteins is interesting to analyze for diagnostic, predictive, prognostic and drug targeting purposes, since it reflects the altered gene expression causing the cancer. 2. 2. Prognostic and Predictive Factors in Bladder Cancer

    Författare :Tammer Hemdan; Per-Uno Malmström; Ulrika Segersten; Peter Boström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bladder cancer; BCG; cisplatin; STMN1; emmprin; survivin; CCTα; biomarker; immunohistochemistry; IHC; tissue microarray; TMA;

    Sammanfattning : Bladder cancer is a potentially curable malignancy; however in regards to the state of current therapy regimens, a plateau has been reached in both the non-muscle and muscle invasive types. To obtain effective treatment, and consequently a decreased mortality, it has become imperative to test and understand aspects affecting therapy response. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A valuable pair - candidate biomarkers RBM3 and PODXL in urothelial bladder cancer

    Författare :Karolina Granfelt Boman; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :urothelial bladder cancer; RBM3; PODXL; Prognostic biomarker; Predictive biomarker; immunohistochemistry; tissue microarray TMA ;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: Bladder cancer is a heterogenous disease, ranging from minimally invasive, low-grade tumours with lowrecurrence rates and mortality on one end of the spectrum, and muscle invasive, high-grade disease prone torecurrence, progression and death at the other end.The aim of this thesis was to investigate the expression, clinicopathological correlates and prognostic significanceof the candidate biomarkers podocalyxin-like protein (PODXL, papers II and III) and RNA-binding motif protein 3(RBM3, papers I, III and IV) in urothelial bladder cancer (UBC). 4. 4. STAT3 in Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Nicholas Don-Doncow; Malmö Urologisk cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prostate cancer; STAT3; biomarker; Immunohistochemestry; Drug Resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the second most common diagnosed cancer among men. Currently there are no reliablebiomarkers to distinguish between indolent and aggressive disease. When men progress to advanced stages of the disease treatment options are limited and resistance to treatments available today is a growing problem. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pharmaceuticals – improved removal from municipal wastewater and their occurrence in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Berndt Björlenius; Gen Larsson; Antonius J. A. van Maris; Hallvard Ødegaard; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Advanced wastewater treatment; WWTP; pilot plant; pharmaceutical residues; removal of pharmaceuticals; activated carbon; ozonation; nanofiltration; biomarker; Baltic Sea; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmaceutical residues are found in the environment due to extensive use in human and veterinary medicine. The active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) have a potential impact in non-target organisms. Municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are not designed to remove APIs. LÄS MER
