16. An evolutionary view of the taxonomy and ecology of Inocybe (Agaricales) with new perspectives gleaned from GenBank metadata
Sammanfattning : Inocybe (Inocybaceae) is one of the most speciose genera among the gilled mushrooms (Agaricales) but large parts of its taxonomy and evolutionary history remain poorly explored. The present thesis sho... LÄS MER
17. Information processing and expectations in delusion-proneness
Sammanfattning : One of the most characteristic features of psychosis is delusional ideation. Delusions represent incorrect and inflexible beliefs that are not based on reality. It has been proposed that delusions may be secondary to impairments in reality monitoring. LÄS MER
18. Non-Gaussian Statistical Modelsand Their Applications
Sammanfattning : Statistical modeling plays an important role in various research areas. It provides away to connect the data with the statistics. Based on the statistical properties of theobserved data, an appropriate model can be chosen that leads to a promising practicalperformance. LÄS MER
19. Statistical methods for the detection, analyses and integration of biomarkers in the human genome and transcriptome
Sammanfattning : Most human diseases have been shown to have a genetic basis that is linked to regulation of gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level. In the central dogma of biology, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is transcribed to messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA), and then translated into proteins; dysfunction in any of these processes may contribute to the development of disease. 20. Anaesthesia and Genetics of the Ryanodine 1 Receptor
Sammanfattning : The only validated method to characterize the phenotype and to reach a definitive diagnosis of Malignant Hyperthermia Susceptibility (MHS; OMIM *145600), a pharmacogenetic disease linked to the Ryanodine 1 receptor gene (RYR1; OMIM *180901), is an invasive muscle contraction test requiring a muscle biopsy, according to the European (IVCT) protocol or to the North American (CHCT) protocol. The series of scientific papers in this thesis tries to reach as far as possible in diagnosing MHS from peripheral venous blood samples collected at the patients’ local primary care provider and sent to the laboratory over significant transportation time and distance.
