  1. 21. Surface Composition and Microstructure Control during Pressureless Forming and Sintering of Ferrous Powder Metallurgy Materials

    Författare :Sílvia Magalhães; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; metal injection moulding MIM ; surface reactions; SEM; MS; supersolidus liquid phase sintering; TGA; high speed steel HSS ; liquid phase sintering; starch consolidation SC ; XPS; ferrous powder; powder metallurgy PM ; degassing;

    Sammanfattning : This study addresses key issues related to different stages of ferrous PM materials processing. Several analytical tools are applied in the study of surface composition and microstructure control in the processing of ferrous powder including forming, degassing and sintering stages. LÄS MER

  2. 22. The process atmosphere as a parameter in the Laser-Powder Bed Fusion process

    Författare :Camille Nicole Géraldine Pauzon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process stability; 316L stainless steel; Ti-6Al-4V; Laser-Powder Bed Fusion; processing atmosphere; process control; powder degradation; Additive Manufacturing;

    Sammanfattning : Laser-Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique that allows to produce near-net shape components of complex design. Applied to metallic materials, L-PBF allows to consolidate subsequent layers of powder using the heat from laser radiation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Modelling of compaction of metal powder and damage accum ulation due to fatigue in powder materials

    Författare :Joakim Cedergren; Mekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Maskinteknik; hydraulics; Mechanical engineering; friction; FEM; numerical modelling; continuum mechanics; fatigue loading; powder compaction; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses powder manufactured (P/M) components, with special attention to the compaction process and to the sensitivity to damage accumulation due to fatigue within powder compacted specimens. Three dimensional simulations of the compaction process have been performed, using an explicit dynamic dilatant finite strain finite element code supplemented with the effects from contact friction within the die, modelled by Coulomb friction. Sammanfattning : Press and sinter powder metallurgy steels are cost-effective solutions for structural applications. There is a constant drive for improvement in the density of these powder metallurgy steels to expand their usage in high-performance applications. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Synthesis of Transition Metal Aluminides from Elemental Powder Mixtures

    Författare :Hossein Sina; Materialteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminides; Intermetallics; Powder Metallurgy; Reactive Sintering; Combustion Synthesis; Thermal Analysis; DSC; Onset temperature; Phase evolution; SEM; EDS; XRD;

    Sammanfattning : Structural components such as those used in gas turbines for energy conversion applications, are subjected to high loads at elevated temperatures. In order to ensure that the components survive under these conditions for a sufficiently long time, it is imperative to select materials with good high temperature properties like strength and corrosion resistance.
