  1. 11. Hip and Spine in Cerebral Palsy

    Författare :Måns Persson-Bunke; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cerebral palsy; windswept hip deformity; scoliosis; children; posture;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background: Children with cerebral palsy (CP) have an increased risk of scoliosis, contractures including windswept hip deformity (WS), and hip dislocation. In 1994, a follow-up program and registry for children and adolescents with CP (CPUP) was initiated in Sweden to allow the early detection and prevention of hip dislocations and other musculoskeletal deformities. 2. 12. Seated postural reactions to mechanical shocks : laboratory studies with relevance for risk assessment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders among drivers

    Författare :Tobias Stenlund; Börje Rehn; Ronnie Lundström; Ola Lindroos; Fredrik Öhberg; Rolf Moe-Nilssen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Postural balance; Posture; Electromyography; Musculoskeletal pain; Whole-body vibration; Reliability; Kinematics; Biomechanics; sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Professional drivers of off-road vehicles, driving on irregular terrain such as in forestry, agriculture and mining, are exposed to whole-body vibration and mechanical shocks. These driver groups have reported severe musculoskeletal problems in the spine, but the association to seated postural reactions is not fully understood. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Fluid dynamic principles for analysis of intracranial pressure control : application towards space medicine and hydrocephalus

    Författare :Petter Holmlund; Anders Eklund; Sara Qvarlander; Jan Malm; Marek Czosnyka; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intracranial pressure; posture; cerebrospinal fluid; microgravity; venous collapse; internal jugular vein; fluid dynamics; venous pressure; spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular syndrome; hydrocephalus; mathematical modeling; ultrasound; magnetic resonance imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Intracranial pressure (ICP) is an important component of the fluid dynamic environment of the brain and plays a central role with regards to the maintenance of normal cerebral blood flow and neuronal function. However, many regulatory mechanisms controlling the ICP are still poorly understood. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Pre- and postoperative evaluation of function and activity in patients with paralytic scoliosis

    Författare :Eva-Lena Larsson; Alf Udén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Activities of daily living; disability evaluation; paralysis; complications; physiopathology; scoliosis complications; etiology; physiopathology; surgery; posture; treatment outcome; wheelchairs; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates surgical correction in patients with paralytic scoliosis with emphasis on function and activity. The thesis includes four studies of 100 consecutive patients preoperatively evaluated and surgically corrected between 1992 and 1996 at Linköping University Hospital. Eighteen different diagnoses were represented. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Observation Methods and Imaging Techniques. Assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities

    Författare :Birgit Juul-Kristensen; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; imaging techniques; force; electromyography; video recording; electrogoniometer; inclinometer; movement; posture; physical exposure; industrial work; repetitive; upper extremity; neck; observation method; musculoskeletal; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin; industrial medicine; Occupational health; epidemiology; ultrasound; magnetic resonance;

    Sammanfattning : Observation methods and imaging techniques - assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities The aim of this thesis was to develop, establish and validate observation methods for exposure assessments in epidemiological studies of repetitive work. A second aim was to increase the quality of input data for biomechanical shoulder models, by reliability and validity studies of Magnetic Reso-nance Imaging (MRI) and Ultrasound Scanning (US). LÄS MER
