11. Hip and Spine in Cerebral Palsy
Sammanfattning : Abstract Background: Children with cerebral palsy (CP) have an increased risk of scoliosis, contractures including windswept hip deformity (WS), and hip dislocation. In 1994, a follow-up program and registry for children and adolescents with CP (CPUP) was initiated in Sweden to allow the early detection and prevention of hip dislocations and other musculoskeletal deformities. 12. Seated postural reactions to mechanical shocks : laboratory studies with relevance for risk assessment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders among drivers
Sammanfattning : Professional drivers of off-road vehicles, driving on irregular terrain such as in forestry, agriculture and mining, are exposed to whole-body vibration and mechanical shocks. These driver groups have reported severe musculoskeletal problems in the spine, but the association to seated postural reactions is not fully understood. LÄS MER
13. Fluid dynamic principles for analysis of intracranial pressure control : application towards space medicine and hydrocephalus
Sammanfattning : Intracranial pressure (ICP) is an important component of the fluid dynamic environment of the brain and plays a central role with regards to the maintenance of normal cerebral blood flow and neuronal function. However, many regulatory mechanisms controlling the ICP are still poorly understood. LÄS MER
14. Pre- and postoperative evaluation of function and activity in patients with paralytic scoliosis
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates surgical correction in patients with paralytic scoliosis with emphasis on function and activity. The thesis includes four studies of 100 consecutive patients preoperatively evaluated and surgically corrected between 1992 and 1996 at Linköping University Hospital. Eighteen different diagnoses were represented. LÄS MER
15. Observation Methods and Imaging Techniques. Assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities
Sammanfattning : Observation methods and imaging techniques - assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities The aim of this thesis was to develop, establish and validate observation methods for exposure assessments in epidemiological studies of repetitive work. A second aim was to increase the quality of input data for biomechanical shoulder models, by reliability and validity studies of Magnetic Reso-nance Imaging (MRI) and Ultrasound Scanning (US). LÄS MER
