  1. 6. Movement Control after Stroke : Studies on Sit-to-walk and on the Relations between Clinical and Laboratory Measures

    Författare :Gunilla Elmgren Frykberg; Jörgen Borg; Helga Hirschfeld; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stroke; sit-to-walk; movement analysis; force analysis; postural control; Berg Balance Scale; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; Rehabilitation Medicine; Rehabiliteringsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The principal aims of this research were 1) to extend existing knowledge of the everyday sit-to-walk (STW) transfer in subjects with stroke and in matched controls by exploring temporal, kinematic, and kinetic aspects, and 2) to investigate the relations between some clinical and laboratory measures of postural control and locomotion in stroke rehabilitation and research. Methods: Ten community-living subjects with stroke (mean age 59 years) and ten matched controls were enrolled in the STW studies (Studies I, II, and IV). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Nervous mechanisms of postural control

    Författare :Anastasia Karayannidou; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Postural control; equilibrium; body confguration; motor cortex; reticulospinal system; standing; locomotion; spinal cord injury; cat; rabbit; lamprey;

    Sammanfattning : Maintenance of body confguration and orientation in space (postural control) is a vital motor function. A general goal of the present study was to analyze nervous feedback mechanisms for the maintenance of posture during different motor behaviors and with different postural perturbations. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Postural control and adaptation to threats to balance stability

    Författare :Mitesh Patel; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Postural control; Visual; Vestibular; Somatosensory; Proprioception; Posturography; Complaint surface; Ageing; Mechanoreceptive sensation; Sleep deprivation; Adaptation; Muscle activity;

    Sammanfattning : Postural control is the ability to maintain equilibrium and orientation in a gravitational environment. It is dependent on feedback and feedforward mechanisms that generate appropriate corrective movement based on body-sway motion detected primarily by visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive sensory systems. 4. 9. Rehabilitation and Evaluation after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury : Function, Stability and Postural Control

    Författare :Marketta Henriksson (Lysholm); Gunnar Németh; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, the success of treatment after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury has been judged from the recovery of muscle strength and knee range of motion (ROM), but also from the static knee stability after ACL reconstruction. However, since the sensory role of the ACL and surrounding tissues for the functional stability of the knee has been documented, the measurement of proprioceptive function related to knee stability is likely to become important in this evaluation. 5. 10. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Författare :Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. LÄS MER
