Sammanfattning : Although Sweden saw a decline in death rates related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) between 1987 and 2011, it is still the most common cause of death for both women and men. Lifestyle-related factors such as inadequate physical activity (PA), poor cardiorespiratory fitness (CF), and excess body fat are all recognised as important predictors of CVD morbidity and mortality. 12. Drug treatment practice in diabetes mellitus during 1975-1994 : Population-based pharmacoepidemiological studies
Sammanfattning : The aims of these studies were to investigate pharmacological practice in diabetes mellitus in defined populations in Sweden and in France, the effects on glycaemic control and the change of hypoglycaemic drug treatment practice in Sweden during 1975-1994. Data from diabetic subjects were obtained from the Tierp Study Database during 1975 - 1994 by record-linkage of subjects with diabetes diagnosis at the primary health care centre and diabetes drugs purchased at the local pharmacies in Tierp. Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the associations between fatty acid (FA) biomarkers, carbohydrate intake, and abdominal obesity (AO) and related anthropometric measures in a population-based cohort of men and women in Stockholm County. The overall hypothesis was that dietary fat quality assessed by serum and adipose tissue FA composition, and dietary intake of especially carbohydrates is associated with AO. LÄS MER
