    Nyckelord :Child health care; longitudinal studies; preschool children; psychomotordevelopment; child behaviour disorders; psychosocial stress; accidents; mass screening inchildren.;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To evaluate aspects of the health surveillance at Child Welfare Centres (CWC) particularly the promotion of mental development and health. 2. 17. Familial breast cancer : risk populations and their surveillance

    Författare :Anna von Wachenfeldt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Women carrying mutations in either BRCA 1 or BRCA2 have a lifetime risk of breast cancer of 80%. As little is known about the risk of other malignancies, apart from ovarian/tubal cancer in mutation carriers, the importance of other malignancies in a family with several cases of breast cancer is hard to evaluate. 3. 18. Stochastic dynamic modelling and statistical analysis of infectious disease spread and cancer treatment

    Författare :Theresa Stocks; Tom Britton; Michael Höhle; Daniela De Angelis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical modelling; infectious disease spread; cancer treatment; statistical inference; population dynamics; birth-death process; partially observed Markov process; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Mathematical models have proven valuable for public health decision makers as they can provide insights into the understanding, control and, ultimately, the prevention of diseases. This thesis contains four manuscripts dealing with stochastic dynamic modelling and statistical analysis of infectious disease spread and optimization of cancer treatment. LÄS MER

  4. 19. A model for injury surveillance at the local level in Bangladesh : implications for low-income countries

    Författare :Fazlur Rahman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Injury; Surveillance; Low-income countries; Bangladesh;

    Sammanfattning : Injury is a major public health problem in Bangladesh as in other low income countries throughout the world, but one that has gained very little attention from policy makers or even health professionals, mainly due to the lack of valid injury information in these countries. The establishment of surveillance systems for injuries at the national and local levels for the purpose of measuring trends, detecting clusters, identifying injury related risk factors, and developing intervention strategies are now essential steps to be taken in low-income countries. 5. 20. Methods for evaluating work-related musculoskeletal neck and upper-extremity disorders in epidemiological studies

    Författare :Allan Toomingas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :neck; upper extremity; musculoskeletal; disorders; symptoms; signs; methods; evaluation; epidemiology; work;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop, evaluate and characterise assessment methods used within epidemiological studies of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the neck and upper extremities. Special attention was paid to self-administered methods, relations to psychosocial risk factors and signs of nerve compression. LÄS MER
