1. Blowing Agents in Rigid Polyurethane Foam - Analytical Studies - Technical and Environmental Aspects
Sammanfattning : Rigid polyurethane foam is used in many different applications because of its high insulating capacity. CFC-11 has been the predominant blowing agent due to its advantageous properties, especially its low thermal conductivity. LÄS MER
2. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS). 3. Isocyanates and Amines – Sampling and Analytical Procedures
Sammanfattning : This thesis covers sampling and analytical procedures for isocyanates (R-NCO) and amines (R-NH2), two kinds of chemicals frequently used in association with the polymeric material polyurethane (PUR). Exposure to isocyanates may result in respiratory disorders and dermal sensitisation, and they are one of the main causes of occupational asthma. LÄS MER
4. Isocyanates, Amines and Alkanolamines : Sampling, Chromatography and Detection
Sammanfattning : Isocyanates, aromatic-, aliphatic- and alkanolamines are commonly used in the industry today. Millions of workers in Europe are exposed. The most frequent health symptoms are respiratory and dermal disorder. Due to the health risk most of the compounds in this thesis are regulated by authorities and have occupational exposure limits (OELs). LÄS MER
5. Foam, Fire and Free Volume - Chemical and Physical Aspects of Porous Polymers
Sammanfattning : Automotive seating has been under continous development since it was described for the first time in 1885. At that time one could read about a “padded leather bench seat sitting on springs mounted directly to the frame of a horse-less carriage”. LÄS MER
