  1. 1. Poly(A)-specific Ribonuclease (PARN) : Structural and Functional Studies of Poly(A) Recognition and Degradation

    Författare :Niklas Henriksson; Anders Virtanen; Marvin Wickens; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biotechnology; Molekylär bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Regulation of mRNA degradation is a powerful way for the cell to regulate gene expression. A critical step in eukaryotic mRNA degradation is the removal of the poly(A) tail at the 3'-end of the mRNA. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Degradation of the mRNA 3'-end located poly(A) tail is an important step for mRNA decay in mammalian cells. Thus, to understand mRNA decay in detail, it is important to identify the catalytic activities involved in degrading poly(A). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Allosteric Regulation of mRNA Metabolism : -Mechanisms of Cap-Dependent Regulation of Poly(A)-specific Ribonuclease (PARN)

    Författare :Per Nilsson; Anders Virtanen; Megerditch Kiledjian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell and molecular biology; mRNA degradation; deadenylation; cap; poly A ; PARN; allosteric regulation; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Degradation of mRNA is a highly regulated step important for proper gene expression. Degradation of eukaryotic mRNA is initiated by shortening of the 3’ end located poly(A) tail. Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) is an oligomeric enzyme that degrades the poly(A) tail with high processivity. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) is a eukaryotic 3’-5’exoribonuclease that removes poly(A) tails of many coding and non-coding RNAs. In this thesis, we have studied the physiological role of PARN. LÄS MER

  5. 5. PARN – The Tail End : Function and mechanisms of specificity and processivity

    Författare :Mikael Nissbeck; Anders Virtanen; Renée Schroeder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Poly A specific ribonuclease; Adenosine; Specificity; Processivty; Telomere biology disorders; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) is an exoribonuclease that is processive, poly(A) specific and cap-binding. PARN deadenylates the poly(A) tails present on a subset of mRNAs and non-coding RNAs, including among others certain snoRNAs, miRNAs and precursor rRNAs. LÄS MER
