1. Immunotherapy of children with rhinoconjunctivitis due to birch pollinosis
Sammanfattning : In this investigation of immunotherapy (IT) children 6-16 years old with rhinoconjunctivitis due to birch pollinosis were included.I. Methodological studies. To monitor IT a reliable provocation test is desirable. LÄS MER
2. Effect of allergen specific immunotherapy on allergic inflammation in the upper and lower airways
Sammanfattning : Experimental allergen challenge is widely used in diagnostic practice and research in allergy, but its relationship to environmental exposures is not clarified. Both models of allergic diseases have been used in order to examine the effects of allergen specific immunotherapy (SIT). LÄS MER
3. Reconstruction of Past European Land Cover Based on Fossil Pollen Data : Gaussian Markov Random Field Models for Compositional Data
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to develop statistical models to reconstruct past land cover composition and human land use based on fossil pollen records over Europe for different time periods over the past 6000 years. Accurate maps of past land cover and human land use are needed when studying the interaction between climate and land surface, and the effects of human land use on past climate. LÄS MER
4. Cytokines and their soluble receptors in nasal fluids from school children with allergic rhinitis
Sammanfattning : Allergic inflammation is associated with a shift in the balance between cytokines produced by two T helper subsets (Th1 and Th2) towards a preponderance of Th2 cells. Interleukin (IL)-4 is produced by Th2 cells and interferon-g (IFN-g) by Th1 cells. The ratio IL-4/IFN-g is often used as a marker of the balance between the cytokines. LÄS MER
5. Genetic variation, polyploidy and hybridization in Scandinavian Anthericum ramosum and A. liliago (Anthericaceae)
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I investigate the differences in breeding system, levels of genetic variation and hierarchical structure of genetic diversity between Anthericum ramosum and A. liliago. The two species differ in ploidy level and flowering time, but have similar habitat preferences, reproductive biology and geographic distributions in Scandinavia. LÄS MER
