21. Quasi-phase matched devices in Rb-doped KTiOPO4: counterpropagating nonlinear interactions, domain dynamics, and waveguides
Sammanfattning : Abstract Nonlinear interactions involving counterpropagating photons are gaining much attention in classical and quantum optics due to their unique properties that are very difficult, if not impossible, to realize in conventional co-propagating three-wave mixing. However, the large phase mismatch between the interacting waves demands an unnaturally large material birefringence or high-quality quasi-phasematched (QPM) devices with sub-µm periods. LÄS MER
22. Highly efficient optical parametric oscillators in the mid-IR
Sammanfattning : This thesis shows how sources of coherent radiation in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) region can be enhanced. To achieve this, optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) employing improved novel materials, new optical elements, and novel cavity designs have been implemented. LÄS MER
23. Melt spinning of poly(vinylidene fluoride) mono- and bicomponent fibres and yarns : the formation of piezoelectric beta-phase crystallinity
Sammanfattning : The present study investigates the possibilities of manufacturing piezoelectric polymer fibres or yarns for integration into textile materials. The polymers known to give the strongest piezoelectric effects are poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and some of its copolymers. LÄS MER
24. PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOMECHANICAL FACTORS DETERMINING CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING PERFORMANCE
Sammanfattning : Cross-country (c.c.) skiing is a complex sport discipline from both physiological and biomechanical perspectives, with varying course topographies that require different proportions of the involved sub-techniques to be utilised. A relatively new event in c. LÄS MER
25. Manufacturing and Characterisation of Conductive and Piezoelectric Textile Fibres
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the manufacturing and characterisation of melt spun electrically conductive polymer nanocomposites and piezoelectric textile fibres. Potential applications of these fibres are for example textiles with heating and sensor capabilities. LÄS MER
