11. Non-Invasive Multidimensional Imaging Applied on Biological Substances
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the research and development of a microwave in-strument to capture tomographic information from the inner structure ofthe biological sample. The principle of the instrument is based on theanisotropy introduced by the fibres in materials such as wood and musclesin terms of information regarding changes in the fibre structure. LÄS MER
12. Antennas and Propagation from a Signal Processing Perspective
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies several topics within the area of antennas and propagation from a signal processing perspective. However, theory and methods from electromagnetics and communications have also been used, contributing to an interdisciplinary character of the thesis. LÄS MER
13. Estimation of Forest Biomass and Faraday Rotation Using Polarimetric L-/P-band SAR
Sammanfattning : At present the greatest source of uncertainty in the global carbon cycle is in the terrestrialecosystems. In order to reduce these uncertainties it is necessary to provide consistent andaccurate global estimates of the biomass contained in the forests of the world. LÄS MER
14. Essays in economics : The impact of changes on the labor market induced by structural change, the adoption of a new computer-based technology and economic slowdowns on family formation, family fertility outcomes and new careers
Sammanfattning : Childlessness, Number of Children and The Labor Market at the Time of a New Technology, the US 1980-2018The adoption of a new computer-based technology in the US in the late 1970s resulted in broad changes on the labor market that can be described by two major phenomena - job polarization and a shift in the relative returns to skill. A well established theoretical and empirical literature shows that commuting zones with a historically greater specialization in routine task intensive occupations adopted the new computer-based technology faster and subsequently saw greater changes on the local labor markets. 15. Sea Ice Concentration Estimation and Ice Type Classification from Dual-Frequency Satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar
Sammanfattning : The sea ice cover in the Arctic has undergone dramatic changes in recent years. The perennial sea ice extent is decreasing by 12.2 % per decade while annual mean sea ice thickness has decreased by more than 2 m for the central Arctic Basin from 1975 to 2012. LÄS MER
