1. MULTIFOCAL SPHERICAL FISH LENSES
Sammanfattning : Vision is an important source of information for many animals. The lens plays a central role in the visual pathway and hence the ecology of these animals. Fish have spherically shaped crystalline lenses that contain a gradient of refractive index. Like all refracting elements, lens performance depends on the wavelength of the refracted light. LÄS MER
2. Putting on the talent hat : an identification perspective on employee differentiation
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the effects of employee differentiation practices, specifically talent management and performance appraisal, on employees. More precisely, it examines how employees’ self-images are affected by, and shape the influence of, differentiation. LÄS MER
3. Quasar host galaxies at intermediate and high redshifts
Sammanfattning : Quasars form one of the most energetic phenomena in the universe, and can be traced out to very large redshifts. By studying the galaxies which host the active nuclei, important insights can be gained into the processes that trigger and maintain the quasar powerhouse. LÄS MER
4. Manufacture of High Efficiency Surface Relief Computer Generated Holograms
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats design, manufacture, evaluation and applications of computer-generated surface relief holograms - kinoforms. These diffractive, phase-only, planar optical components are characterized by high efficiency, design flexibility, light weight and small size. They can further be reproduced at low cost. LÄS MER
5. Dot Gain in Colour Halftones
Sammanfattning : The incomparably most common way of reproducing images in print is by halftoning, whereby varying levels of grey or colour are simulated by small dots with maximum colour density but with a varying local fractional area coverage, printed on a white substrate. Whenever such a reproduction is used, a ubiquitous effect called dot gain comes into play and makes the actual image appear darker than what would have been expected from a perfect reproduction.
