  1. 1. Concrete slab on the ground and moisture control : verification of some methods to improve the moisture conditions in the foundation

    Författare :Lars-Erik Harderup; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Concrete slab; moisture; repair methods; ventilated foundation; drainage; numerical methods; grunder; grundplattor; platta på mark; betongplattor; fuktskador; reparationsmetoder; dränering; ventilerade konstruktioner; fukt; fukttransport; relativ fuktighet; temperatur; luftflöden; beräkningsmodeller; teori; fältundersökningar; mätresultat;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with different types of repair methods for concrete slab on the ground damaged by moisture. Many of the available methods involve some kind of mechanical ventilation of the foundation. The basic principle for all these systems is the same. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Study of adverse-pressure-gradient effects on a flat-plate boundary layer at high Reynolds numbers

    Författare :Ramón Pozuelo; Ricardo Vinuesa; Philipp Schlatter; Ivette Rodriguez; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbulence; simulations; turbulent boundary layers; adverse pressure gradients.; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Turbulent boundary layers are present in many aspects of life, from the weather and wind currents to transportation, production of energy or mixing processes. Understanding turbulent motions can allow for an improvement and development of technical devices, techniques or diagnosis of phenomena where a fluid flow is in the turbulent regime. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Transition delay in boundary-layer flows via reactive control

    Författare :Nicolò Fabbiane; Dan S. Henningson; Shervin Bagheri; Denis Sipp; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flow control; drag reduction; net energy saving; adaptive control; model-based control; optimal control; flat-plate boundary layer; laminar-to- turbulent transition; plasma actuator; direct numerical simulation; in-flight experiments; strömningsstyrning; friktionsreduktion; netto energibesparing; adaptiv styrning; modellbaserad styrning; optimal kontroll; gränsskikt öve en plan platta; laminärt till turbulent omslag; plasma aktuator; DNS; flyg prov; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Transition delay in boundary-layer flows is achieved via reactive control of flow instabilities, i.e. Tollmien-Schlichting (TS) waves. Adaptive and model-based control techniques are investigated by means of direct numerical simulations (DNS) and experiments. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of morphogen signalling during neural patterning in the Xenopus embryo

    Författare :Hooi Min Tan Grahn; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Suppressor-of-fused; Gli; β-Catenin; Neural; Xenopus; FGF; Signalling; HtrA1; RDH10; Retinol dehydrogenase; Retinoic acid; Spemann s organizer; Induction; Gradient;

    Sammanfattning : Morphogens such as Hedghog, Wnt, FGF, and retinoic acid are important signals whose concentrations need to be tightly regulated in the vertebrate embryo to ensure body axis development and formation of the central nervous system. We first show that the intracellular cytoplasmic protein XSufu acts as a dual regulator of Hedgehog (Hh) and Wnt signals during neural induction and patterning in the Xenopus embryo. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy - Mechanisms of Action and Protecting Exposed Blood Vessels in the Wound Bed

    Författare :Erik Anesäter; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Negative pressure wound therapy; wounds; complications; experimental surgery; blood flow;

    Sammanfattning : NPWT has recently been associated with severe complications and bleeding when used in wounds with exposed blood vessels. The aims of this work were to investigate the mechanisms of action of NPWT and to explore the possibility of using thin plastic discs to protect exposed blood vessels in the wound bed during NPWT.
