  1. 11. Carex humilis - a caespitose clonal plant: ramet demography, ring formation, and community interactions

    Författare :Sofie Wikberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ramet density; Plant ecology; Växtekologi; ramet population dynamics; aggregated ramets; intravaginal; phalanx type; LTRE; matrix model; fitness; dry grassland; hollow crown; fairy ring; central die back;

    Sammanfattning : Carex humilis forms rings of densely aggregated ramets in dry grassland vegetation in Central Europe. In the thesis I conclude that ramet demography is important both for analyzing fitness in clonal plants and for understanding how C. humilis rings are formed. I studied the ramet demography of C. 2. 12. Seagrass productivity : from plant to system

    Författare :Diana Deyanova; Mats Björk; Mirta Teichberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seagrass; Chlorophyll a fluorescence; Ageing; Productivity; Seasonality; Stress response; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrasses form one of the most productive habitats on earth and are recognized as very efficient carbon sinks. The levels and patterns of productivity within and across different seagrass systems vary widely due to natural or human-induced factors. LÄS MER

  3. 13. From pattern to process : Studies on limestone grassland, with emphasis on the bryophyte-lichen layer and its effects on vascular plants

    Författare :Manuela Zamfir; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Alvar; Bryophytes; Carousel model; Community structure; Competition; Dynanmics; Interactions; Lichens; PASFRAN; pattern analysis; Sweden; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Patterns in space and time at different scales in the bryophyte-lichen layer, aud multi-species spatial patterns of bryophytes, lichens and vascular plants were studied in Avenetum limestone grassland on the Great Alvar of the Baltic Island of Öland, south-eastem Sweden.Spatiotemporal patterns of bryophytes and Iichens in grazed and ungrazed alvar grassland demonstrated that dominant species forming large patches were relatively stable in time, whereas less frequent species forming small patches were more mobile. 4. 14. Effects of morphometric isolation and vegetation on the macroinvertebrate community in shallow Baltic Sea land-uplift bays

    Författare :Joakim Hansen; Lena Kautsky; Erik Bonsdorff; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lagoons; macrofauna; macrophytes; hydrophytes; charophytes; ecological succession; structural complexity; habitat complexity; habitat selection; species composition; biodiversity; stable isotopes; food web; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Shallow sheltered Baltic Sea bays are ecologically important habitats that harbour a unique vegetation community and constitute vital reproduction areas for many coastal fish species. Knowledge about the invertebrate community in these bays is, however, limited. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Plant community assembly during succession from arable fields to semi-natural grassland

    Författare :Barbara Christine Schmid; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diversity; arable-to-grassland succession; space-for-time approach; land-use history; plant community assembly; grazing management; connectivity measures; dispersal vector; vascular plants; grassland specialist conservation;

    Sammanfattning : Large areas of grazed, species rich semi-natural grassland were lost in Europe during the last two centuries and as a consequence led to decreases in grassland specialist species. Therefore, today the “restoration” of grassland on previously arable fields is recommended for the protection of grassland specialists. LÄS MER
