  1. 1. Spinal Control of Locomotion : Developmental and Functional Aspects

    Författare :Nadine Rabe; Klas Kullander; Artur Kania; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuronal network; commissural interneuron; developmental interneuron subtypes; V3; mouse genetics; Pitx2; axon guidance; netrin-1; DCC; EphA4; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi; Developmental Neurosciences; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal networks are the central functional units of the nervous system. Knowledge about the identity of participating neurons and the assembly of these during development is crucial for the understanding of CNS function. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gain-of-function induced defects by PITX2 in eye and limb development

    Författare :Johan K Holmberg; Muskelbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : My research has been focused on eye and limb development with regard to the transcription factor PITX2. In the first paper we present an Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome PITX2 gain-of-function eye mouse model. Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome is a rare autosomal disorder affecting the development of eyes, teeth and abdomen. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Human iris characteristics as biomarkers for personality

    Författare :Mats Larsson; Håkan Stattin; Nancy Pedersen; Richard J. Rose; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Personality; iris characteristics crypts pigment dots contraction furrows; candidate genes MITF PAX6 SIX3 LMX1B FOXC1 FOXC2 PITX2 BMP4 OLFM3 MSX1 MSX2; anterior cingulate; genetic correlations; heritability; hemispheric asymmetries; approach-related behaviors; Psychology; Psykologi; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation explains why behavioral genetic research can be better informed by using characteristics in the human iris as biomarkers for personality, and is divided into five parts. Part I gives an introduction to the classical twin method and an overview of the findings that have led most developmental researchers to recognize that the normal variation of personality depends on a complex interplay between genetic and environmental factors. 4. 4. The subthalamic nucleus in motor and affective functions : An optogenetic in vivo-investigation

    Författare :Adriane Guillaumin; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Konstantinos Meletis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Subthalamic nucleus; optogenetics; basal ganglia; locomotion; Parkinson s disease; aversion; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia form a group of subcortical interconnected nuclei involved in motor, limbic and cognitive functions. According to the classical model of the basal ganglia, two main pathways exert opposing control over movement, one facilitating movement and the other suppressing movement. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Across Borders : A Histological and Physiological Study of the Subthalamic Nucleus in Reward and Movement

    Författare :Nadine Schweizer; Åsa Wallén-Mackenzie; Dai Stephens; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; subthalamic nucleus; STN; basal ganglia; locomotion; hyperlocomotion; rearing; ventral tegmental area; VTA; dopamine; glutamate; vesicular glutamate transporter 2; Vglut2; Parkinson s disease; deep brain stimulation; subpopulation; conditional knock-out; optogenetic; co-expression; in situ hybridization; self-administration; reward behavior; mouse genetics;

    Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia are the key circuitry controlling movement and reward behavior. Both locomotion and reward-related behavior are also modified by dopaminergic input from the substantia nigra and the ventral tegmental area (VTA). LÄS MER
