  2. 2. Interactions between calcium and heavy metals in Norway spruce : Accumulation and binding of metals in wood and bark

    Författare :Ann Helén Österås; Maria Greger; Lena Kautsky; Douglas L. Godbold; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Waste products from the forest industry are to be spread in forests in Sweden to counteract nutrient depletion due to whole tree harvesting. This may increase the bioavailability of calcium (Ca) and heavy metals, such as cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) in forest soils. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Fracture behaviour of Green Wood (Pinus Sylvestris L.) : a composite materials approach

    Författare :Fredrik Thuvander; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Sammanfattning : The fracture behaviour of green wood has been investigated using a composite materials approach. Through fracture experiments on miniature specimens, it was found that drying of wood leads to damage not only on the macro-level but also at the scale of the cell wall. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Patterning during embryo development in Pinus : with special emphasis on somatic embryogenesis in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)

    Författare :Malin Abrahamsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Somatic embryogenesis is an attractive method to propagate conifers vegetatively. However, many species belonging to Pinus are recalcitrant to somatic embryo development. The overall aim of this thesis has been to gain a better understanding of the developmental pathway leading to cotyledonary somatic embryos of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). LÄS MER
