1. Inclusions and/or Particles Engineering for Grain Refining Purposes in Ferritic Fe-20mass%Cr alloys
Sammanfattning : Compared to more common used austenitic stainless steels, ferritic stainless steels contain very low amounts of the expensive alloying element Ni. In addition, they have good corrosion properties, but are sometimes suffering from poor weldability and bad mechanical properties. LÄS MER
2. Electron Transport in Low Dimensional Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of experimental studies of transport properties in high mobility two dimensional electron gases (2DEGs). Two material systems are used, an AlGaAs/GaAs heterojunction and a GaInAs/InP quantum well. LÄS MER
3. Tailored Properties of Ferromagnetic Thin Films
Sammanfattning : Magnetic thin films and patterned nanostructures have been studied with respect to their magnetic properties using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy, electrical measurements, and micromagnetic calculations. Properties of vortex domain walls, trapped in Permalloy nanowires with artificial constrictions, were investigated experimentally and by numerical calculations. LÄS MER
4. Electrical Characterization of Integrated InAs Nano-Structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis analyzes the electrical properties of InAs nano-structures, that are integrated into different materials and geometries. The thesis describes integration related issues of InAs, the epitaxial synthesis of the InAs nano-structures and summarizes experimental techniques for analysis of electrical properties of the integrated structures. 5. Carbon Nanotube Transistors: Nanotube Growth, Contact Properties and Novel Devices
Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are envisioned to be used as the basic building blocks in future electronics due to their excellent electronic properties such as high mobility, compatibility with high-k dielectrics and small diameters resulting in advantageous electrostatics. This thesis is divided into three separate topics related to increasing the fabrication yield and performance of CNT field effect transistors (CNTFETs). LÄS MER
