1. Polyesters with indole as sustainable aromatic component
Sammanfattning : Plastics are widely used in our daily lives and industry. Unfortunaltely, most plastics are produced from non-renewable fossil resources. The transition toward sustainable resources such as various biomass is critically important for the future of plastic industry and the whole society. LÄS MER
2. Constitutive and TCDD-induced expression of Ah receptor responsive genes with special focus on the brain and pituitary
Sammanfattning : The 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (2,3,7,8-TCDD) and related substances are ubiquitous environmental pollutants causing a number of pathological alterations, the most severe being progressive anorexia and body weight loss. The effects on body weight homeostasis suggest a possible involvement of the nervous system and neuroendocrine areas including the pituitary gland. LÄS MER
3. EPR Studies of Ruthenium-Manganese Complexes as Biomimetic Models for Photosystem II - Approaching Artificial Photosynthesis
Sammanfattning : In natural photosynthesis, solar energy is converted to chemical energy by photosynthetic reaction centers. In green plants and algae, Photosystem II (PSII) and Photosystem I (PSI) absorb light and utilize the charge separation reactions to convert solar energy to chemical energy. LÄS MER
4. Experimental and theoretical studies on treatment and recycling of pickling sludge generated in stainless steel production
Sammanfattning : The thesis work is one of the on-going research projects within MiMeR (Minerals and Metals Recycling Research Centre) at Division of Process Metallurgy, Luleå University of Technology in Sweden. The major objectives of this thesis work are: i) to characterize raw materials and products obtained from experiments, ii) to study the mechanisms of solid-state reduction and smelting reduction of pickling sludge and iii) to test in laboratory different process alternatives to treat and recycle pickling sludge. 5. Experimental studies on treatment and recycling of pickling sludge generated in stainless steel production
Sammanfattning : Pickling sludge generated in the stainless steel industries contains large amounts of calcium fluoride and water and relatively small amounts of metals. Therefore, such sludge is difficult to be directly recycled back to the EAF process and would be harmful to the environment if deposited as landfill for a long term. LÄS MER
