16. Bax and oxidized phospholipids - a deadly complex : Apoptotic protein-lipid assemblies studied by MAS NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are renowned for their vital role as cellular powerhouses because they provide ATP via cellular respiration. Additionally, these organelles also play an important role in other physiological processes, such as apoptosis. LÄS MER
17. NMR studies on interactions between the amyloid β peptide and selected molecules
Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease is an incurable neurodegenerative disorder linked to the amyloid β (Aβ) peptide, a 38-43 residue peptide. The detailed molecular disease mechanism(s) is (are) unknown, but oligomeric Aβ structures are proposed to be involved. LÄS MER
18. Regulation of chloroplast gene expression in higher plants
Sammanfattning : Chloroplast gene expression is regulated by developmental and environmental signals. It has been proposed that there is a direct coupling between electron transport in biological membranes and gene expression (J. F. Allen, 1992, Biochim. LÄS MER
19. Future stratospheric ozone depletion will affect a subarctic dwarf shrub ecosystem
Sammanfattning : The stratospheric ozone depletion and the concomitant increase in ultraviolet-B (UV-B, 280-320 nm) radiation is of global concern due to the effects of UV-B on living organisms. To investigate the effects of increased levels of UV-B, a field irradiation system was established at a subarctic dwarf shrub heath in Northern Sweden (68 °N). LÄS MER
20. Modification of flavonoid content and photosynthesis by ultraviolet-B radiation. Atrazine-tolerant and -sensitive ultivars of Brassica napus
Sammanfattning : Levels of ultraviolet-B (UV-B, 280-320 nm) radiation reaching the Earth´s surface increase due to stratospheric ozone depletion. In this thesis the effect of enhanced UV-B radiation was studied on the atrazine-tolerant mutant Stallion, susceptible to photoinhibition, and the atrazine-sensitive cultivar Paroll of Brassica napus (oilseed rape).
