  1. 1. Phospholipase A2 in nerve injury and axonal outgrowth

    Författare :Marie Hornfelt; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurology; cell death; apoptosis; leukotrienes; arachidonic acid; M-type receptor; secretory phospholipase A2; cytosolic phospholipase A2; sciatic nerve; dorsal root ganglia; growth cone; axonal outgrowth; nerve injury; peripheral nerve regeneration; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with processes coupled to injury in the peripheral nervous system (PNS), with a general aim to investigate the role of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) enzymes in axonal outgrowth. The axonal outgrowth of dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons in vitro was reduced by several different inhibitors of PLA2 activity and enhanced by an activator of this enzyme. LÄS MER

  2. 2. OX1 Orexin Receptor Signalling to Phospholipases

    Författare :Marie Ekholm; Jyrki Kukkonen; Graeme Milligan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :orexin; phospholipase; Calcium; cell signalling; G protein coupled receptor; ERK; live-cell imaging; arachidonic acid; diacylglycerol;

    Sammanfattning : The neuropeptides orexin-A and orexin-B were discovered in 1998 and were first described as regulators of feeding behaviour. Later research has shown that they have an important role in the regulation of sleep. Two G protein-coupled receptors, OX1 and OX2 orexin receptors, mediate the cellular responses to orexins. 3. 3. Membranous Nephropathy - Challenges in diagnostics and treatment

    Författare :Jennie Lönnbro-Widgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glomerulonephritis; Membranous nephropathy; Proteinuria; Phospholipase A2 receptor; Cancer; End-stage renal disease;

    Sammanfattning : The variability in the pathogenesis, clinical presentation and outcome of membranous nephropathy (MN) poses major clinical challenges and raises different questions, both regarding diagnostics and treatment of patients with MN. The aims of this thesis were therefore to examine: 1) differences in the glomerular expression of different IgG subclasses and phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) between patients with idiopathic and malignancy-associated MN; 2) treatment pattern of patients with idiopathic MN; and 3) if the serum PLA2R antibody level at diagnosis can be used as a prognostic marker. 4. 4. Signalling and trafficking of the cysteinyl leukotriene receptors in intestinal epithelial cells

    Författare :Ladan Parhamifar; Malmö Cellpatologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; trafficking; Cysteinyl leukotriene receptors; inflammation; cytosolic phospholipase A2; colon cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammation is a response to injury or pathogen invasion. A large proportion of the bodie's immune system is centred in the gastrointestinal tract (GI). Prolonged inflammatory conditions of the GI have been suggested to increase the risk for developing colon cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Tissue kallikrein: pathophysiological role in acute pancreatitis

    Författare :Mats Bläckberg; Helsingborg Kliniska Vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute pancreatitis; aprotinin; alpha-macroglobulin; alpha1-proteinase inhibitor; turn over; kinin B2 receptor; kallidin; bradykinin; Tissue kallikrein; kallistatin; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Tissue kallikrein releases pharmacollogically highly active kinins from kininogen. Many other enzymes may also release kinins. The aim of the study was to clarify the pathophysiological role of tissue kallikrein in acute pancreatitis. Two sensitive and specific radioimmunoassays for porcine and human tissue kallikrein were developed. LÄS MER
