   Sammanfattning : What could education and citizenship possibly mean in Swedish political thought in the 21st century? The main question of this thesis is: What are the conceptual and historical conditions to relate education to the political and moral dimensions of citizenship, when society is characterized by pluralism cultural diversity? This overall embracing question is discussed from critical philosophical and theoretical view points and a historical perspective of what characterises the present. The first part (I) of the dissertation deals with the philosophical and theoretical discussion of modernity, using the theoretical perspectives of Michel Foucault and Jürgen Habermas. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : The dissertation deals with the view of the Middle Ages in the Swedish Romantic Movement in the first half of the 19th century. A presentation is given of the treatment of the Middle Ages in the historical and fictional works of the Romantics, and it is shown how this treatment was influenced by both their philosophical outlook and their view of contemporary morality and politics. Despite the fact that craftsmen have historically contributed significantly to the creation of urban landscapes and their cultures, today they are marginalized from the prevailing discourses of creativity and place-making.
