6. Health-related quality-of-life in Sweden : Assessments with health-profile, preference-based -and disease-specific measures
Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis are to assess health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL) in a general population and among patients with psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD). Instruments include the generic health-profile instruments Short Form 36 (SF-36) and Short Form 12 (SF-12); the preference-based methods: rating scale (RS), time trade-off (TTO), standard gamble (SG) and the contingent valuation method of measuring willingness-to-pay (WTP); and the disease-specific Dermatology Life Quality Instrument (DLQI). 7. Counselling in Swedish Community Pharmacies : Understanding the Process of a Pharmaceutical Care Service
Sammanfattning : Community pharmacy practice is moving towards patient care and away from the mere dispensing of medicines. In this movement, which is guided by the philosophy of Pharmaceutical care (PC), new counselling services emerge. LÄS MER
8. Mechanical strength of pharmaceutical compacts : Importance of material characteristics, particle characteristics and compaction pressure on interparticulate bonding structure
Sammanfattning : Factors considered important for the interparticulate bonding structure and mechanical strength of pharmaceutical compacts were studied in this thesis.Fractures appear to propagate mainly around rather than through grains during strength testing. LÄS MER
9. Microdialysis as a tool in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic studies investigating the brain distribution and effect delay of morphine and morphine-6-glucuronide
Sammanfattning : The microdialysis technique was developed as a tool for studying the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamicrelationships of morphine and morphine-6-glucronide (M6G). Concentrations of unbound drug in blood andbrain were monitored in order to elucidate the origin of the observed delay in antinociceptive effect in rats. LÄS MER
10. Pharmacodynamic modeling of cardiovascular effects of Σb-antagonists and moxonidine : Special emphasis on tolerance and rebound effects
Sammanfattning : Pharmacodynamic (PD) modeling was used to characterize and quantify the short- and long-term changes in cardiovascular effects following treatment with β-antagonists or imidazoline receptor agonist moxonidine, in spontaneous hypertensive rats and patients with congestive heart failure, respectively. The complex cardiovascular system is regulated by several feedback mechanisms with different time domains and gains. LÄS MER
