16. Using Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Principles to Evaluate Individualisation of Antibiotic Dosing – Emphasis on Cefuroxime
Sammanfattning : Cefuroxime is a renally eliminated antibiotic used against a variety of different bacterial infections. The pharmacokinetics (PK) for cefuroxime was studied in 97 hospitalized patients using population analysis. To be able to measure cefuroxime in human serum a new sensitive analytical method was developed using mass spectrometry detection. LÄS MER
17. Models for Ordered Categorical Pharmacodynamic Data
Sammanfattning : In drug development clinical trials are designed to investigate whether a new treatment is safe and has the desired effect on the disease in the target patient population. Categorical endpoints, for example different ranking scales or grading of adverse events, are commonly used to measure effects in the trials. LÄS MER
18. Pharmacodynamic Modelling of Irreversible and Reversible Gastric Proton Pump Inhibitors
Sammanfattning : Acid related diseases like GERD, duodenal-and gastric ulcers and H. Pylori-positive peptic ulcer disease are primarily managed by reducing gastric acidity. Irreversible proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) inhibit gastric acid secretion effectively throughout the day by irreversibly inhibiting the gastric proton pump, H+, K+-ATPase, in the parietal cells. 19. Microvascular plasticity and neurovascular coupling in the pharmacotherapy of Parkinson's disease
Sammanfattning : L-DOPA pharmacotherapy in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is associated with adverse effects occurring after a few years of treatment. Among these, dyskinesia (abnormal involuntary movements) is particularly common and potentially disabling. LÄS MER
20. Cardiac arrest - an epidemiologic perspective on pharmacotherapy and post resuscitation care
Sammanfattning : Background: Despite significant research and progress, cardiac arrest remains a condition with a high mortality rate, and few interventions have been demonstrated to improve outcomes in this patient group. Despite incorporation of adrenaline use in the treatment guidelines over several decades, its potential benefit remains uncertain. LÄS MER
