16. Mutational analysis of melanocortin receptors 1 and 5
Sammanfattning : The melanocortin receptor family includes five subtypes, named MC1R to MC5R. Melanocortin receptors are predominantly coupled to second messenger pathway of cyclic AMP through coupling to G-protein. This study is focused on structure-function relationship of MC1R and MC5R. LÄS MER
17. Particle Transcytosis Across the Human Intestinal Epithelium : Model Development and Target Identification for Improved Drug Delivery
Sammanfattning : The use of nano- and micro-particulate carriers as delivery systems for oral vaccines has been under investigation for several decades. Surprisingly little is known of their uptake in the human intestine, despite the fact that substantial improvement is required to achieve adequate immune responses in man after oral administration. 18. Polymer Gels as Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms : Rheological Performance and Physicochemical Interactions at the Gel-Mucus Interface for Formulations Intended for Mucosal Drug Delivery
Sammanfattning : Drug delivery to the nasal and ocular mucosa faces several obstacles. One of these is from the effective clearance mechanisms present in the nose and eye. Polymer gels with suitable rheological properties can facilitate the absorption of poorly absorbed drugs by increasing the contact time of the drug with the mucosa. LÄS MER
19. Tabletting behaviour of aggregates : Mechanistical conception and modulation by variations in aggregate physical properties
Sammanfattning : The volume reduction mechanisms involved during compression of aggregates prepared from microcrystalline cellulose particles and effects of variations in their physical properties on their compression behaviour and compactability were studied in this thesis. The dominating volume reduction mechanisms during compression of aggregates prepared of MCC were deformation (bulk deformation and local deformation) parallel with densification, and generally the degree of fragmentation of the aggregates was minute. 20. Confined Compression of Single Particles : Development of a Novel Triaxial Testing Instrument and Particle-Scale Modelling
Sammanfattning : When predicting the performance of a powder compaction process, assessing the behaviour of the particles comprising the powder bed is of central relevance. Currently, however, no experimental methods are available for mimicking the multiaxial loading conditions imposed on the individual particles in a powder bed during compaction, and such analyses are therefore usually performed in silico.
