11. Mass Transport through Phase Separated Films - Effects of Ethyl Cellulose Molecular Weight on Cellulose Derivative Blends for Pharmaceutical Coatings
Sammanfattning : Polymer blends are utilized for a variety of applications, not least in pharmaceutical coatings for controlled release of drugs. For instance, blends of ethyl cellulose (EC) and the water-soluble hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) can be used to coat drug pellets for oral extendedrelease formulations. LÄS MER
12. From Polysaccharides to Functional Materials for Trace Pharmaceutical Adsorption
Sammanfattning : The transition to bioeconomy will reduce our dependency on fossil fuels as well as contribute to a more sustainable society. Within this framework, exploitation and development of renewable substitutes to petroleum-based products provides feasible roadmap for the material design. LÄS MER
13. Fast Chemistry by Microwave Heating : First Descriptions of Highly Enantioselective Microwave Protocols for Metal Catalysis; First Descriptions of in-situ Gas Generation for Fast Combinatorial Microwave Chemistry
Sammanfattning : Microwave heating was applied to different palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions. The use of various nucleophiles demonstrated C-, N-, O- and S- nucleophilicity. High yields and stereopurities of the corresponding alkyls, amides, ethers and sulfones were afforded after only 30 – 120 s of heating. LÄS MER
14. Regioselective Heck Coupling Reactions : Focus on Green Chemistry
Sammanfattning : Carbon-carbon bond formation reactions are among the most important processes in chemistry, as they represent key steps in the synthesis of more complex molecules from simple precursors. This thesis describes mainly the development of novel regioselective applications of the mild and versatile palladium-catalyzed carbon-carbon coupling method, commonly known as the Heck reaction. 15. Design, Synthesis and Thermodynamic Studies of Galectin Ligands
Sammanfattning : The signaling within and between cells in biology is governed by molecular recognition between natural or synthetic ligands and proteins. This thesis project aimed to investigate the thermodynamic properties of specific interaction between synthetic ligands and galectin proteins. LÄS MER
