  1. 1. Materials and Devices for Stretchable Electronic Nerve Interfaces

    Författare :Samuel Lukas Lienemann; Klas Tybrandt; Magnus Berggren; Diego Ghezzi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stretchable electronics; Nanowires; Peripheral nerve interfaces; Cuff electrodes;

    Sammanfattning : Within our body, there is a large network of nerves that facilitates communication between the brain and the body’s organs. This network is called our peripheral nervous system, consisting of soft and stretchable nerve bundles that gradually increase in their functional specificity as they split and branch out the closer they get to their target organ. 2. 2. Silicon neural interfaces -Design and biomedical aspects-

    Författare :Lars Wallman; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Elektronik och elektroteknik; Electronics and Electrical technology; pn-etch stop; biocompatibility; neural recordings; porous silicon; silicon; neural interface; sieve electrode; General biomedical sciences; Biomedicinska vetenskaper allmänt ;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the development of a silicon neural interface, with focus on silicon sieve electrode fabrication, design, nerve regeneration, signal recording and biocompatibility. A study of how the via hole size and transparency of the perforated sieve membrane influences the nerve regeneration is presented together with a study on soft tissue responses to planar and porous silicon. 3. 3. Neural control of inflammation

    Författare :April S Caravaca; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pioneering research on neural control of inflammation has paved the way for new and exciting developments in the growing field of bioelectronic medicine. In the past couple of decades, pre-clinical research on the role of the vagus nerve in inflammation and immunity has brought electrical stimulation of select nerves into clinical trials for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases.
