  1. 1. Transient Phenomena in CO and Hydrocarbon Oxidation over Supported Platinum Catalysts

    Författare :Per-Anders Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mean-field kinetics simulations; ignition; environmental heterogeneous catalysis; flow-reactor studies; periodic operation; extinction; low-temperature activity; transient methods; in situ spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis work was to better understand transient phenomena involved in the low-temperature oxidation of CO and hydrocarbons by oxygen over typical oxidation catalysts. Supported platinum catalysts were prepared and carefully studied under transient conditions by means of flow-reactor experiments, different in situ spectroscopic (FTIR and XANES) methods in combination with mass spectrometry and mean-field kinetics simulations. 2. 2. Interaction of CO and methane with platinum, Low-temperature oxidation and sensor response mechanisms

    Författare :Elin Becker; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO; Low-temperature activity; XAS; In situ spectroscopy; Environmental catalysis; Support material; Periodic operation; XANES; Chemical sensors;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis project was to increase the understanding of the mechanisms for low-temperature oxidation of carbon monoxide and methane over supported platinum catalysts. In situ spectroscopic methods together with mass spectrometry were used to study the catalysts during both steady state and transient conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum - Supported catalysts and chemical sensors

    Författare :Elin Becker; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Periodic operation In situ spectroscopy; XAS; CO; Sensing mechanism; Low-temperature activity; XANES; Pt; Environmental catalysis; Support material; CH4; Chemical sensors;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of the interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum in connection to catalysis and sensor technology for emission control. Specifically, the low-temperature oxidation of methane and carbon monoxide over supported platinum catalysts and the sensor response mechanism towards CO of platinum-based chemical field effect sensors were studied.
