16. Multifaceted Defense Against Distributed Denial of Service Attacks: Prevention, Detection, Mitigation
Sammanfattning : Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks can be so powerful that they can easily deplete the computing resources or bandwidth of the potential targets, by flooding massive packets. Internet infrastructures and network applications, including social services and communication systems for emergency management, are under the threat of the DDoS problem. LÄS MER
17. Data-driven models for railway track geometry maintenance
Sammanfattning : Railways are currently experiencing higher demands on safety, infrastructure performance, network capacity and service quality, etc. As a result, a high level of track availability, service quality and infrastructure robustness against unexpected events is required, at reduced cost, to meet the demands. 18. Machine Learning-Based Prediction Models and Threat Detection for Lane-Keeping Assistance
Sammanfattning : Traffic accidents have been an ongoing problem for over a century and many efforts have been made to improve traffic safety. Historically, the focus has been on passive safety with innovations, such as crumpling zones, three-point seat belts, and airbags, that aim to mitigate the impact of collisions. LÄS MER
19. Adaptive Real-time Anomaly Detection for Safeguarding Critical Networks
Sammanfattning : Critical networks require defence in depth incorporating many different security technologies including intrusion detection. One important intrusion detection approach is called anomaly detection where normal (good) behaviour of users of the protected system is modelled, often using machine learning or data mining techniques. 20. Miniprojects and Context Rich Problems : Case studies with qualitative analysis of motivation, learner ownership and competence in small group work in physics
Sammanfattning : This thesis reports case studies of students working with context rich problems (CRP) and mini projects (MP) in physics in an upper secondary school class and in a physics teacher education class at university. The students report a big shift from physics in secondary school as fun and easy, to physics in upper secondary school as boring, difficult and with lack of time for reflections and physics talking, but they also found physics as interesting in itself.
