  1. 1. Design of High Performance Computing Software for Genericity and Variability

    Författare :Malin Ljungberg; Michael Thuné; Kurt Otto; Hans Petter Langtangen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PDE solver; high-performance; coordinate invariant; curvilinear coordinates; symmetry exploiting; generalized Fourier transform; finite difference; expression templates; feature modeling; variability; Beräkningsvetenskap; Scientific Computing;

    Sammanfattning : Computer simulations have emerged as a cost efficient complement to laboratory experiments, as computers have become increasingly powerful. The aim of the present work is to explore the ideas of some state of the art software development practices, and ways in which these can be useful for developing high performance research codes. 2. 2. Grammatical correctness and communicative ability : a performance analysis of the written and spoken English of Swedish learners

    Författare :Inger Bergström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; grammatical correctness; communicative ability; performance analysis; written and spoken English; classroom instruction; low-achievers; language learning; interlanguage; compensatory strategies; errors; verb phrase; parameters; systematicity; variability; writing proficiency; speech proficiency; elicitation test;

    Sammanfattning : Written and oral material produced by a group of low-achieving learners of English from the 2-year lines of the Swedish upper secondary school was analysed from the perspective of grammatical correctness and communicative ability. The grammatical analysis focussed on the verb phrase and tests included both free production in speech and writing and elicitation tests. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Competing Under Pressure : State Anxiety, Sports Performance and Assessment

    Författare :Carolina Lundqvist; Peter Hassmén; Andrew Lane; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; competition; intra-individual variability; directional interpretations; emotions; sports performance; CSAI-2; psychometrics; Psychology; Psykologi; Samhällsvetenskap Humaniora;

    Sammanfattning : Elevated levels of anxiety are a common response to stressful competitive sports situations, are known to moderate athletic performance and are referred to as an unpleasant emotional state associated with perceptions of situational threat. The empirical studies in this dissertation considered primarily psychometric, methodological and conceptual issues of relevance for the study of anxiety and sports performance. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Resource characterization and variability studies for marine current power

    Sammanfattning : Producing electricity from marine renewable resources is a research area that develops continuously. The field of tidal energy is on the edge to progress from the prototype stage to the commercial stage. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Growth Hormone in Athletes

    Författare :Christer Ehrnborg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Growth hormone; IGF-I; bone markers; doping; athletes; maximum exercise test; variability; supraphysiological; body composition; physical performance; IGFBP-4; IGFBP-5;

    Sammanfattning : Doping with growth hormone (GH) is a well-known problem both among elite athletes and among people training at gyms. It is mainly the anabolic and, to some extent, lipolytic effect of GH that is valued by its users. LÄS MER
