  1. 1. Coronary artery disease and prognosis in relation to cardiovascular risk factors, interventional techniques and systemic atherosclerosis

    Författare :Fredrik Calais; Ole Fröbert; Jerzy Leppert; Bo Lagerqvist; Stefan K James; Douwe E. Atsma; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atherosclerosis; Myocardial infarction; Coronary artery disease; Extra-cardiac artery disease; Coronary stent; Thrombus aspiration; physical inactivity; Prognosis;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To evaluate the prognosis associated with location and severity of coronary and systemic atherosclerosis in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) in relation to risk factors and interventional techniques.Methods: The thesis comprised six longitudinal studies based on three patient cohorts: The Swedish Coronary Angiography and Angioplasty Registry, the Västmanland Myocardial Infarction Survey, and the Thrombus Aspiration in ST-Elevation myocardial infarction in Scandinavia study, to evaluate clinical outcome relative to coronary lesion location and severity, extracoronary artery disease (ECAD), intervention techniques, and leisuretime physical inactivity (LTPI). 2. 2. Ventricular Long Axis Function: Amplitudes and Timings : Echocardiographic Studies in Health and Disease

    Författare :Frederick Bukachi; Anders Waldenstrom; Derek Gibson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Echocardiography; Doppler Tissue Imaging; Ageing; coronary disease; left ventricular function; atrial contraction; electromechanical function; coronary angioplasty.; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The ageing process not only increases the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) but also complicates its diagnosis and treatment. It is therefore important to understand the newer concepts of cardiovascular ageing physiology as well as methods of predicting the outcomes of therapeutic options available for the elderly with severe CAD. 3. 3. Neuropsychological Function After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

    Författare :Cecilia Dautovic Bergh; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurology; coronary artery bypass surgery; S100B; neuropsychological function; Psychology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Despite considerable research efforts, the incidence and mechanisms of diffuse cognitive impairment after coronary artery bypass surgery are not fully understood. The aim of the dissertation was to describe cognitive changes after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and the predictors and consequences thereof. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Disability pension among patients undergoing coronary revascularisation

    Författare :Katharina Zetterström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of death both in Sweden as well as globally, and represents a major public health problem also regarding impaired physical capacity and work disability. After musculoskeletal and mental diagnoses CVD is the third largest diagnostic group for disability pension (DP) in Sweden. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The impact of different techniques used for coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention on the occurrence of procedure-related ischemic cerebral complications

    Författare :Juliane Jurga; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Coronary angiography (CA) is the gold standard in diagnosing and determining the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease. Procedure-related neurological complications are rare; 0.1-0.4% for CA and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). LÄS MER
