Over the past 30 years, a dramatic change in the therapeutic approach has occurred leading to non-surgical treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy being primary options. LÄS MER
17. Allosteric Regulation of mRNA Metabolism : -Mechanisms of Cap-Dependent Regulation of Poly(A)-specific Ribonuclease (PARN)
Sammanfattning : Degradation of mRNA is a highly regulated step important for proper gene expression. Degradation of eukaryotic mRNA is initiated by shortening of the 3’ end located poly(A) tail. Poly(A)-specific ribonuclease (PARN) is an oligomeric enzyme that degrades the poly(A) tail with high processivity. LÄS MER

19. Exploring Probabilistic Reasoning : A Study of How Students Contextualise Compound Chance Encounters in Explorative Settings
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at exploring how probabilistic reasoning arises in explorative learning situations that are random in nature. The focus is especially on what learners with scant experience of formal theories of probability do and can do when dealing with compound random situations in which they are offered opportunities to integrate different probabilistic lines of reasoning. Sammanfattning : The topic of this study is one specific area where the tension between instrumental rationality and value rationality becomes prominent: the question whether we have a rational responsibility for nature or not. Such a responsibility cannot be derived from instrumental reason, but it is argued that it can be derived from discourse ethics and communicative rationality. LÄS MER
