  1. 6. Apolipoprotein A-IV and Transthyretin in Swedish Forms of Systemic Amyloidosis

    Författare :Joakim Bergström; Per Westermark; Giampaolo Merlini; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; Amyloid; Fibril; Aggregation; Apolipoprotein A-IV; Transthyretin; Seeding; Senile systemic amyloidosis; Familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Over 20 different plasma proteins have been shown to have the capacity to undergo conformational changes and self-assemble into highly stable and insoluble amyloid fibrils. One, transthyretin (TTR), consists of 127 amino acid residues arranged in eight β-strands (named A to H) and is involved in two different clinical forms of amyloidosis. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Contextualising a South African social innovation for maternal and child health to mothers with experiences of migration in Sweden

    Författare :Per Kåks; Mats Målqvist; Sibylle Herzig van Wees; Anna Bergström; Jenny McLeish; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Social innovation; peer support; migration; parenting; parents; children; health promotion; trust; mistrust; implementation; empowerment;

    Sammanfattning : Despite a universally accessible and high-quality welfare system, disparities in health and wellbeing persist between families who have migrated to Sweden and the native population. The South African Mentor Mother programme, a social innovation for maternal and child health among socially disadvantaged communities, was transferred and adapted to benefit mothers and pregnant women with experiences of migrating to Sweden. 3. 8. Computational and Experimental Models for the Prediction of Intestinal Drug Solubility and Absorption

    Författare :Christel A. S. Bergström; Per Artursson; Han van de Waterbeemd; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; aqueous drug solubility; melting point; intestinal drug permeability; pH-dependent solubility; multivariate data analysis; molecular descriptors; molecular surface area; in silico modeling; drug absorption; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : New effective experimental techniques in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology have resulted in a vast increase in the number of pharmacologically interesting compounds. However, the number of new drugs undergoing clinical trial has not augmented at the same pace, which in part has been attributed to poor absorption of the compounds. LÄS MER

  4. 9. In vitro and in silico prediction of drug-drug interactions with transport proteins

    Författare :Gustav Ahlin; Per Artursson; Christel Bergström; Johan Karlsson; Jörg König; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Solute carrier; SLC transporter; OCT1; Organic cation transporter 1; SLC22A1; OATP1B1; SLCO1B1; Organic anion transporting peptide 1B1; Drug transport; Active transport; Genetic polymorphism; Cell lines; Gene expression; Multivariate data analysis; OPLS; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Drug transport across cells and cell membranes in the human body is crucial for the pharmacological effect of drugs. Active transport governed by transport proteins plays an important role in this process. A vast number of transport proteins with a wide tissue distribution have been identified during the last 15 years. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Microgels as drug delivery vehicles : loading and release of amphiphilic drugs
