16. Using peptide-phage display to capture conditional motif-based interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the world of conditional protein-protein interactions using combinatorial peptide-phage display and proteomic peptide-phage display (ProP-PD). Large parts of proteins in the human proteome do not fold in to well-defined structures instead they are intrinsically disordered. LÄS MER
17. On the colloidal and molecular aspects of peptide self-assembly
Sammanfattning : Peptide self-assembly is a spontaneous process, ubiquitous in nature for the creation of highly ordered and complex biological structures, making it a sought after technique in the development of novel biocompatible materials. The process is also strongly associated with various neurodegenerative diseases in the formation of amyloid plaques in diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, where fully functioning proteins aggregate are reassembled into nonfunctional fibrillar aggregates that eventually lead to cell death. 18. Cell-penetrating peptide targeting mitochondria : Design, synthesis, characterization, and biological effects
Sammanfattning : More than twenty years after the discovery of the first cell-penetrating peptide (CPP), a large number of both naturally occurring as well as engineered CPPs have been discovered. Generally, CPPs are short polycationic sequences of less than 30 amino acids that are able to translocate different cargoes into cells. LÄS MER
19. Quantitative Aspects of Nanodelivery Across the Blood-Brain Barrier : Exemplified with the Opioid Peptide DAMGO
Sammanfattning : The use of nanocarriers is an intriguing approach in the development of efficacious treatment for brain disorders. The aim of the conducted research was to evaluate and quantify the impact of a liposomal nanocarrier formulation on the brain drug delivery. LÄS MER
20. Nitrates and Left Ventricular Dysfunction
Sammanfattning : Use of beta-blockers and inhibitors of the renin angiotensin system (RAS) is established practice in the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF). Clinical studies also suggest beneficial long-term effects of nitrates in CHF. LÄS MER
