  1. 11. Intracellular and peptide interactions of C-peptide

    Författare :Emma Lindahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Proinsulin C-peptide is depleted together with insulin in type I diabetic patients. The supplement of insulin to these patients is necessary for their survival, but it is also likely that the loss of C-peptide may contribute to both short- and long-term complications. In this thesis, molecular effects of C-peptide have been investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Bombesin Antagonists for Targeting Gastrin-Releasing Peptide Receptor-Positive Tumors : Design, Synthesis, Preclinical Evaluation and Optimization of Imaging Agents

    Författare :Zohreh Varasteh; Anna Orlova; Roger Schibli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bombesin; Gastrin-releasing peptide receptor GRPR ; Antagonist; Radionuclide molecular imaging;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the development, preclinical evaluation, and optimization of radiotracers for the detection of gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR)-expressing tumors. The work is divided into three distinct parts: (1) the development of bombesin (BN) antagonist (RM26)-based imaging radiotracers for the detection of GRPR-expressing tumors using different positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) radionuclides (68Ga, 18F and 111In), (2) the establishment of a method to monitor the ligand-G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) interaction in real time without requiring purification and stabilization of the receptors, and (3) the evaluation of radiopeptide structure-related factors (length of mini-PEG linker and composition of chelator for metal labeling) affecting the in vitro and in vivo characteristics of RM26-based tracers. 3. 13. Aspects of proteinase-activated receptor-2: A sensor of enzymatic activity at the cell surface

    Författare :Anna-Karin Alm; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsychology; Neurology; endometrium.; coagulation; signalling; proteinase; G-protein; cell; receptor; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Information about extracellular proteolytic activity is transduced to the cell by a transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor subfamily. These receptors are activated by proteolytic cleavage in the extracellular amino-terminal domain and are thus termed proteinase-activated receptors (PARs). LÄS MER

  4. 14. The Human Endometrium : Studies on Angiogenesis and Endometriosis

    Författare :Christian Moberg; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Lalit Kumar Parameswaran Grace; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endometrium; angiogenesis; endothelial cell; endometriosis; receptivity; implantation; oestrogen receptor; progesterone receptor; crystallin; interleukin; vasoactive intestinal peptide; peritoneal fluid; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is thought to play a pivotal role in the cycling endometrium. Coordinated by oestrogen and progesterone, endometrial blood vessel development is primarily mediated by vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), which promotes endothelial cell (EC) proliferation and protects ECs from induced apoptosis. 5. 15. Computational prediction of ligand binding in peptide G-protein coupled receptors

    Författare :Silvana Vasile; Hugo Gutiérrez-de-Terán; Johan Åqvist; Herman Van Vlijmen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GPCR; neuropeptide Y; angiotensin II receptor; molecular dynamics; free energy perturbation; homology modelling; computer simulations; peptide binding; peptidomimetics; binding free energy.;

    Sammanfattning : G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are a superfamily of membrane receptors involved in a wide variety of biological processes, and their malfunction is associated with many diseases. Consequently, GPCRs are targeted by one-third of the drugs on the market, and constitute the focus of active public and private research in the search of more effective drugs. LÄS MER
