1. Predictive control for autonomous driving : With experimental evaluation on a heavy-duty construction truck
Sammanfattning : Autonomous vehicles is a rapidly expanding field, and promise to play an important role in society. In more isolated environments, vehicle automation can bring significant efficiency and production benefits and it eliminates repetitive jobs that can lead to inattention and accidents. LÄS MER
2. Studying prevalence using capture-recapture methods : visual impairment in Portugal
Sammanfattning : Visual impairment (VI) due to eye diseases remains a significant healthproblem worldwide and, also, in Europe. There are an estimated 15 million peoplesuffering from moderate or severe visual impairment in Western Europe. LÄS MER
3. Optimization-Based Motion Planning and Model Predictive Control for Autonomous Driving : With Experimental Evaluation on a Heavy-Duty Construction Truck
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses smooth motion planning and path following control of autonomous large and heavy industrial vehicles, such as trucks and buses, using optimization-based techniques. Autonomous driving is a rapidly expanding technology that promises to play an important role in future society, since it aims at more energy efficient, more convenient, and safer transport systems. 4. Control of Epstein-Barr virus infection by cytotoxic T lymphocytes
Sammanfattning : Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) play a critical role in response to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a widespread human herpes virus that persists in healthy carriers as a latent infection of B cells and is implicated in the pathogenesis of lymphoid and epithelial cell malignancies. Six virus encoded nuclear antigens, EBNA1-6, and three membrane proteins, LMP1, -2A and -2B, are regularly detected in EBV transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs). LÄS MER
5. Efficient Remote Gas Inspection with an Autonomous Mobile Robot
Sammanfattning : Human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are one of the major sources of global warming, which is threatening to reach a tipping point. Inspection systems that can provide direct information about critical factors causing global warming, such as systems for gas detection and location of gas sources, are urgently needed to analyze the fugitive emissions and take necessary actions.
