Previous research shows that learning for pupils in the Swedish primary school has somewhat become an individual project.     Sammanfattning : The thesis is based on eight vocational teachers’ life stories with the aim to provide knowledge about vocational teachers and their work with pupils in teaching in the industrial-technology programme, in the context of both a working life and a vocational education which is continuously changing. The thesis answers two research questions: 1) the themes that recur in vocational teachers’ life stories about how they meet and teach their pupils and 2) the teaching goals and strategies which emerge from vocational teachers’ life stories.     Sammanfattning : The aim of the dissertation is to examine how teachers in preschool class and the first two levels of Swedish school implement discourses in multilingual pupils' language and knowledge development in their mathematics teaching after receiving continuing professional development. The study is based on the thory of mediated discourse analysis and its methodology, nexus analysis (see Scollon & Scollon 2004), which reveals how discourses are translated into action based on three collaborating forces: interaction order, discourses in place, and the historical body. The articles present two studies investigating students’ reasoning when they were working in pairs, solving mathematics problems using the dynamic software, GeoGebra, The first study shows that the students used GeoGebra as a collaborative environment where they shared their individual reasoning to one another.
