21. Private security companies and political order in Congo: a history of extraversion
Sammanfattning : This PhD dissertation explores how private security companies co-constitute political order in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as a case through which broader questions regarding the relationship between security governance and political order can be investigated. The thesis explores the spatial distribution of private security companies in Congo, and investigates their predominant entanglement with internationalized governance processes. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the multiple and often overlapping encounters between ‘global’ and ‘local’ norms, actors, practices, and discourses which take place when norms travel between different socio-political contexts. 24. The Privatisation of Security and State Control of Force: Changes, Challenges and the Case of Iraq
Sammanfattning : The thematic focus of this dissertation is the privatisation of security, that is, the increasing use of private security companies (PSCs) to perform security- and military-related tasks traditionally associated with the state and institutions such as the police or the military. 25. Why states cooperate over shared water: The water negotiations in the Jordan River Basin
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on foreign-policy decision-making in circumstances of water scarcity. In particular the study focuses on how the issue of water has been treated in the interstate negotiations within the Peace Process between Israel and the Palestinians and Israel and Jordan.
