16. Catalyst Deactivation by Coke Formation in Acetylene Hydrogenation
Sammanfattning : Several aspects of catalyst deactivation have been studied with reference toselective acetylene hydrogenation, a reaction used industrially to purify ethylene from unwanted acetylene. A mathematical model has been developed for an industrial packed-bed reactor, employing a supported Pd catalyst. LÄS MER
17. Supported Mono- and Bimetallic Gold Nanoparticle Catalysts for Different Organic Transformations
Sammanfattning : Supported gold nanoparticles are emerging as an important class of catalysts for various organic transformations due to their tunable properties. This thesis embraces the fundamental studies of supported gold nanoparticles for different organic reactions from the viewpoint of understanding the role of synthesis methods, nature of carriers, and addition of second metal on the properties and functions of gold catalysts. 18. Magnesium Diboride (MgB2) and Ca-doped YBa2Cu3O7-? : Thin Films and Devices. Fabrication and Characterization
Sammanfattning : Magnesium diboride (MgB2) is a superconductor with an exceptionally high transition temperature, Tc, of 39 K. This work describes deposition of high quality and superconducting films of MgB2 for electronic applications. Experiments on Ca-doped YBa2Cu3O7-? films and fabrication of bicrystal Josephson junctions are also described. LÄS MER
19. Preparation of New Catalytic Materials by Small Particle Technology
Sammanfattning : New techniques for preparation of catalytic materials with novel properties are presented in this thesis. Three new catalytic materials; washcoated fibres, highly dispersed metal oxides on titania coated silica particles and discrete colloidal ZSM-5 crystals with a low SiO2/Al2O3 ratio have been prepared and characterised. 20. Preparation and characterisation of perovskite and noble metal promoted oxide based catalysts
Sammanfattning : This work concerns efforts to improve or replace noble-metal based catalysts used for car exhaust purification.Various oxide based catalysts have been prepared by impregnating washcoats such as (-Al2O3 and SiO2 with appropriate metal ions, and assemblies calcinated at elevated temperatures have been tested for catalytic activity in the oxidation of CO and C3H6 and reduction of NO.
