  1. 1. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Författare :Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 2. 2. Modeling pavement performance based on data from the Swedish LTPP database : predicting cracking and rutting

    Författare :Markus Svensson; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Helge Mork; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cracking; Rutting wheel ; Prediction; Calculation; Mathematical model; Flexible pavement; Performance; Sprickbildning; Spårbildning; Förutsägelser; Beräkning; Matematiska modeller; Flexibla överbyggnader; Prestanda; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design;

    Sammanfattning : The roads in our society are in a state of constant degradation. The reasons for this are many, and therefore constructed to have a certain lifetime before being reconstructed. To minimize the cost of maintaining the important transport road network high quality prediction models are needed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Deterioration Models and Road Capital as Tools in Performance Contracts for Pavement Maintenance

    Författare :Peter Ekdahl; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; pavement management system; performance contract; pavement maintenance; deterioration model; Technological sciences; road capital; Social sciences; Samhällsvetenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : A reorganization of the Swedish National Road Administration (SNRA) has urged a demand to work as a professional agency only, without any work by direct labor. This structure has enforced a change in how to handle the pavement maintenance and performance contracts are being promoted since they encourage product development and sustainability. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Municipal street pavement maintenance and management practices in Sweden

    Författare :Muhammad Amjad Afridi; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Inge Hoff; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; municipalities; street maintenance; pavement management systems; questionnaire; pavement deterioration; cold climate; performance prediction models; machine learning; random forest; pavement condition index; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : A well-functioning street network is pivotal in the socio-economic development of a region. Street networks not only facilitate the movement of people and goods but also allocate space for utility services. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Moisture Influence on Structural Behaviour of Pavements : Field and Laboratory Investigations

    Författare :Farhad Salour; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Guy Doré; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Falling Weight Deflectometer FWD ; backcalculation; unbound material; subgrade; seasonal variation; moisture content; spring-thaw; drainage; pavement stiffness; field test; pavement instrumentation; resilient modulus; permanent deformation; repeated load triaxial test; unsaturated soil; matric suction.; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Sammanfattning : The structural behaviour of pavements in cold regions can considerably be affected by seasonal variation in environmental factors such as temperature and moisture content. Along with the destructive effect of heavy traffic loads, climatic and environmental factors can considerably contribute to pavement deterioration. LÄS MER
