1. The Chevreton Superenergy Tensor in Einstein-Maxwell Spacetimes
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate the superenergy tensor that was introduced by Chevreton in 1964 as an electromagnetic counterpart to the Bel-Robinson tensor for the gravitational feld.We show that in Einstein-Maxwell spacetimes with a source-free electromagnetic feld, the Chevreton superenergy tensor has many interesting properties. 2. Epitaxial growth, structure, and thermoelectric properties of CaMn- and V-based oxides
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on physical vapor deposition, epitaxy, and structural characterization of CaMnO3 and VO2. Environmentally friendly and abundant materials are important for energy savings in applications, e.g., thermoelectrics for waste-heat recycling and thermochromic materials for passive indoor-temperature regulation. 3. Growth and thermoelectric properties of CaMnO3-based thin films
Sammanfattning : The field of them1oelectrics started in early 19th century. Since the discovery of the Seebeck effect and the Peltier effect, thermoelectric modules have found their way into, mostly, niche applications such as radioisotope thermoelectric generators on space missions. LÄS MER
4. Novel variable influence on projection (VIP) methods in OPLS, O2PLS, and OnPLS models for single- and multi-block variable selection : VIPOPLS, VIPO2PLS, and MB-VIOP methods
Sammanfattning : Multivariate and multiblock data analysis involves useful methodologies for analyzing large data sets in chemistry, biology, psychology, economics, sensory science, and industrial processes; among these methodologies, partial least squares (PLS) and orthogonal projections to latent structures (OPLS®) have become popular. Due to the increasingly computerized instrumentation, a data set can consist of thousands of input variables which contain latent information valuable for research and industrial purposes. LÄS MER
5. Occupational exposure during production of wood pellets in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies underlying this thesis were to assess workers’ air exposure to wood dust and various chemicals, and to evaluate the variability in exposure and occupational dermal exposure to resin acids during the production of wood pellets in Sweden. Personal air measurements of wood dust, monoterpenes, resin acids and nitrogen dioxide (as a marker of diesel exhaust), accompanied by area measurements of these substances, VOCs and carbon monoxide, were performed at up to ten plants.
